Hey all,
I took my car to the dealer and they said that I need a new differential due to a leak. I looked under the car myself and I also see fluid. It isn’t near the axles just on the bottom of the differential.
What is the best route to go about fixing this? Should I replace the whole diff (quote was 7 grand over the phone that seems ridiculous to me) or should I pick up a used one and swap it into the car?
I also see I could get a new cover?
Do I sell the car?
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Can't the cover be resealed? Or you can get a used one for around $1k and replace the whole unit. It's not hard, but involving.

That sounds like overkill to replace a whole diff because of a leak. That's almost like saying you need to replace the entire engine because valve covers are leaking. If they didn't tell you why/where it's leaking from I'd be very suspicious of them. I'd have a third party mechanic take a look (that isn't a KIA dealer!) and see what they say.

Yea definitely gonna get a second opinion. Thanks!

That’s what I thought, I figure if anything just reseal it and see if it leaks again.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
These kia stealerships really are dying for business. Agree, definitely get a second opinion. That sounds way overkill.
