I think it is time for another discussion of 3.3L gas mileage.

Several road trips later, this is what I have seen. Best average on a single tank of gas, going down to LA from SLC, UT, was 27.1. Highest showing average (leaving the LA area, as far as starting up into the San Bernardino Nat'l Forest on I-15, was 29.8 (which surprised me, since I had got stuck in rush hour traffic for a little while). Average mileage from SLC to LA (total trip to the motel in Redondo Beach) was 26 point something (sorry, lost the actual fraction, but I do remember it being in the upper end). And average trip mileage from LA back to West Jordan (SLC) was 23.3: so uphill from the coast seems to make a c. 3 MPG difference, compared to going down from here to the coast.

Compared to my road trips to TX, OR and WA, this road trip produced the single highest result (29.8) and the largest difference in over all average, c. 3 MPG difference going and returning.

I track mine on fuelly, and apparently got lucky with the most fuel efficient Stinger V6 being tracked there. Lol. I measure all of my mileage based off of the pump, and laugh at the computer most of the time (It told me I was getting 34 MPG on my commute home a few days ago... Suuuuure). The DTE computer is pretty damn accurate though, it always shows ~370 miles to empty when I fill, and I usually fill 300-350 miles later with a gallon or three left in the tank.

You can see all of my fill ups here: Stinger V6 (90% Highway) (Kia Stinger) | Fuelly
That being said, I'm kinda cheating. I live in a rural town, I have literally 0 traffic. No city driving = better mileage. Lol.

Highlights being:

2018 Kia Stinger GT - RWD
5643 Miles Tracked
20 Fillups/223 Gallons of gas
91 Octane only
25.8 MPG Lifetime average
28.8 MPG Best tank
23.9 MPG Worst tank (Discovered the Drag Strip)

Since Since Merlin is from Utah, he'll be familiar with the route I took for my best tank: Roosevelt to American Fork (the Kia dealer there, specifically), and back. For everyone else, it's a mountain climb from 5100ft to 8000ft, then back down to 4600ft. Then flipped for the return trip. I wasn't trying to hyper-mile, but spent half of the trip unable to pass anyone due to construction, so I couldn't drive as fast as I wanted. Probably helped my Mileage. Lol.

Could probably hit 31MPG on a tank if I was in a flatter state, but I'm not complaining!

Did a 73 mile drive back from Winchester to work yesterday after having my window regulator changed (didn't solve the widow issue, motor being ordered now), stopped at a Liberty station to get 93 octane "pure" gas (no ethanol) fill up. I put in 15.2 gallons of the good (for the car) stuff, when I shut the car down at my destination, it showed 31.1 mpg for that trip. Most I did from there before was around 29 maybe 30 mpg.

I have been averaging 24.5 mpg on four tanks of 87 octane. Tried a tank of 93 octane. Virtually no difference for that tank.

I've been getting 20.4 on average, but most tanks so far have been 30% E85. I just filled up a few days ago with straight 93 so I should see ~25mpg ideally on this tank.

I've been pretty much running 93 exclusively in mine. Maybe I did a half-tank of 89 once.. I usually drive in smart mode and my MPG's been between 20 and 25 mostly. Probably depends on my 'mood' in a given week :)

I do Eco mode from time to time and it does seem to increase the MPG. I have a 700 mile trip coming up in December - I'm debating on a rental or taking my Stinger.

My fuel economy is consistent regardless of the octane level, though since my tune I only run premium.

6,242 mile average is 22.9 mpg with an average speed of 41 mph.

My best 27 mile commute (76% hwy, 24% surface roads) to work was 33.7 mpg. This trip averages 29.7 mpg.

Best 215 mile trip at 80 mph was 33.4 mpg.

I have a PRESSERTech ECU tune and I while I didn't get tuned for fuel economy, it does seem to help. I primarily drive in SMART mode.

I have just over 22,000 miles on my AWD. Best fuel economy I've had was 30.5mpg, averages around 27.5 to 29 (depending on traffic). 90% interstate driving 70-75mph with some hard accelerations.

I averaged 25 measured from fuel-ups driving home from Muncie which I was pleased with, and the on-board computer was pretty close. It was showing about the same on a 270-mile road trip yesterday, but I haven't filled up since. Prior tank I did a lot of 0-60 runs, heavy traffic, and a 1/4 mile pull - 14.7 average over 72 miles (filled up for the road trip).

I also use Fuelly, my numbers are going to be seriously skewed by visits to the drag strip. I might have to fill up after every visit and put in "skipped a fuel up" to avoid tracking those miles, I'll just lose the 150 or so prior as well because I don't want to run with a full tank..

My drive home without any traffic, mostly interstate, I'll get 29-30 cruising at 65 and not doing any "fun" stuff. The same drive with normal rush hour (stop and go) traffic? 18-20. Yeah, I freaking hate traffic.

I don’t average that at all.. I usually sit around 19 but it’s all city. Rarely highway driving for me...

this thing is an absolute pig in stop and go, probably because it weighs 4k lbs lol... surprisingly good mpg while cruising though.

Yes, stop and go is anything but kind to our fuel economy

Follow up to my earlier post on the pure gas fill. Got 382 miles out of that tank, 13 miles to empty and put in 15.7 gallons of 10% blended Costco gas. Works out to 24.3 mpg. Most I've ever put in the tank was 16.2 gallons with about 9 miles to empty.

Ahhh, that's a good question. I've found that with KIA hybrids you can get more than the rated amount in, 2012-15 was rated at 17.5 gallons (if I remember correctly), but you could put 22 in it, got 840 miles to a tank. In my 2017, it's rated at 15.9 and I've put in 20 and got over 900 miles out of it. Figured I'd give it a try on the Stinger and that's how I got to 16.2, up to the neck, no spill over.
