Unfortunately Radar Detectors are are illegal in most states of Australia, have been since the late 1980’sshould have invested in a radar detector. The worst experience for me: got pulled over for 140 mph in a 65 zone, so that's 225 in a 90 for you Aussies. Kept my car and my licence but the city took my paycheck. could have been worse. oh and this was in my NA 4 banger Honda wagon. Almost got charged for reckless driving and eluding the police. Yep, those were the crazy days.
Only a problem if you get caught...Unfortunately Radar Detectors are are illegal in most states of Australia, have been since the late 1980’s
Can you buy the undetectable radar detectors from Western Australia and stealthily use them? Also, do apps like Waze, which use crowd sourcing to identify and locate speed traps, exist there? I remember doing 170 or 180 on the B97 from Olympic Dam to Woomera. I was all by myself and it was getting dark, so I "flew" to Woomera because I was getting freaked out. I didn't pass a single car in the entire 45 minutes I was on the road. Saw no Emu or Roos either.Unfortunately Radar Detectors are are illegal in most states of Australia, have been since the late 1980’s
The fines & loss of license if caught having one is just not worth the heartache. Can you buy the undetectable radar detectors from Western Australia and stealthily use them? Yeah, I was told in advance that they are the equivalent of hitting an American deer and that they frequent the roadside ditches for water at dusk/dawn. This was all I saw for an hour... Well except that it got dark. Really dark. And quiet. The fines & loss of license if caught having one is just not worth the heartache.
Your lucky you didn’t come across any Roos out there as they are very active at sunrise & sunset & they would also be big reds as well, not good hitting one of thos at any speed.
Yes very dark & quiet, a retired US Airforce navigator once told me that they did a lot of training down here years ago because there was very little radio traffic & the night skies were so clear they practiced navigating by the stars.Yeah, I was told in advance that they are the equivalent of hitting an American deer and that they frequent the roadside ditches for water at dusk/dawn. Yeah, the history museum at Woomera was fantastic. Lots of old US Air Force stuff there from the early space program. Lots of military testing there now (on and off) as I understand it. There were several caravaners there when I was there and was told that one of them looked like Chopper Reid. I had no idea who that was until the locals told me. Then I got to see the Ronnie John's parodies of him. Yes lots of military testing out there as it’s away from prying eyes.Yeah, the history museum at Woomera was fantastic. Lots of old US Air Force stuff there from the early space program. Were you on Holiday here or based at one of the U.S. sites out that way? Woomera is miles from anywhere. Can you buy the undetectable radar detectors from Western Australia and stealthily use them? You can't crush a Stinger That's sacrilege. He was driving a new car designed to drive at that speed. Not some hotted up bomb of a Commodore with a P plater behind the wheel. Get a grip you public. He's paying his price.Good grief, I read the comments from clicking on the link in the first post. I was surprised to see the number of people calling for the guy to be put in jail, fined excessively, car crushed, etc.
Still legal in W.A.Unfortunately Radar Detectors are are illegal in most states of Australia, have been since the late 1980’s
And.......Morons get what they deserve. No sympathy hereHe's a bit of a Moron, nobody flies down the Caulder Hwy especially Gap road, it's a down hill open stretch of road and the police haunt that area.
Well, I guess doing 30/kms over the speed limit here you can lose your license so someone doing over 100km/hr over will be deemed " newsworthy "Don't have enough interest to bother clicking on the link, but can't help wonder how something like this is "news worthy".. good grief.
I've seen that speed a dozen times or more in my Stinger. Heck, I've been close to that (~200kph) in my Sorento. Prior to the Stinger, my "best" was around 250, in the mid 90's.
