Hi all, picked up my top trim stinger GT (Aus) and have found that I prefer the lane departure assist and the speed warning assists completely off in the settings. However I've noticed that these settings don't appear to save upon turning off the ignition. I'm using the same profile each time so I'm wondering if there's a way to save these settings permanently so I don't have to change them back every time I start the car. Or perhaps there's another reason as to why the assist settings keep getting reset to factory default. Cheers guys

In my US MY 22 gtline, the only setting reverted is the forward collision crap. Everything else I turned off stays off. Check your owners manual, it should specify if the option reverts to enabled after a shutoff.

Hi john
My Aus delivered GT operates the same as yours, ie lane keep assist is default On when starting the car and I have to press the console button to deactivate it every time.

It does reference this in the user manual for Australia...

But aside from that and the button on the console, even when going into the vehicle settings menu and selecting lane safety to Off, next time I start the car it's active again, so I don't understand why the settings menu bothers giving us an Off setting at all.

Use a tender and it will hold settings.
Really? I'm genuinely interested if this is the case...?
Coincidentally I put the car on a battery charger last night - not coz the battery is failing or anything, just coz I could - ran it over night, battery is good & fully charged, made no difference to the default lane keep settings.

I guess Kia screwed over aus owners. They like to mess with each market uniquely (like 2018 not getting app controlled remote start)…

Sorry bud.

Google!

Search terms - "australia requires lane keep assist"

I have a feeling in the coming years, these nannies won't be disableable here in the states either.

Well its a bloody annoying feature, that's for sure. On the odd occasion when I'm too lazy to bother pressing the console button to deactivate it, shortly into the trip I'm reminded by yet another unexpected beeping alert happening & then the wheel starts jiggling away in my hands. So I fumble around to press and hold that button for the 3 or 4 secs it takes to deactivate, trying to make sure I don't press the fuel door button right next to it by mistake.
First world problem, but still bloody annoying.

A good thing though - Aus Stingers do not have the Auto Stop/Start feature at all (at least on my MY22 GT, not sure if this is the case on earlier models). I was surprised, I thought this was a feature on all modern cars, but am thankful this car does not have it getting in the way.

I too am surprised this was not a feature on the Aus. Stinger. In North America we have been burdened with it for years. I've disabled it on my '22 Stinger, but with gas getting so expensive perhaps saving a couple of drops of fuel might be worth the inconvenience . . .
