Greetings from Kansas City,

I recently went into my local dealer to have my 2022 K5 GT serviced and somehow ended up trading it for a 2023 Stinger.
vehicle had 81 miles on it at time of delivery. As soon as I left the dealer and got on the interstate two road speeds there was this sound coming from under the floorboard in the center of the car. At first I thought it was a splash shield that was hanging down under the car and air was catching it causing it to flutter. The next morning I took the vehicle back to the dealer where I was told it would be three weeks before they could look at it.

I had the salesman that had helped me with the purchase go for a ride and was able to show him my concern. He agreed he could hear the noise and felt some vibration. Three weeks later the vehicle goes into the shop where they balanced the two front tires and checked the alignment. The technician said he could not duplicate the noise or vibration that I was feeling. I continue to drive the car and it seems the more miles I put on it the worse the vibration is getting.

It has Bridgestone Potenza tires on it so I took it too fire stone for their thoughts and they suggested to work solely with the dealer as everything is under warranty. I took the car back to the dealer and was told it would be two weeks before they could get the car back in. Two weeks later I took the car back and the dealer discovered that two of the four splash shields that are under the vehicle were missing and that the two large splash shields were both covered with blood and hair from some animal that the car had hit prior to my ownership.

All splash shields were replaced car was returned to me nothing was repaired. Now four weeks has past and i am just pissed off about the whole thing. I took it to a transmission shop and they test drove the car and said it feels like there is a problem in the driveline somewhere but suggested I not have anyone but the dealer look into this due to the factory warranty. When the vibration occurs it is usually between 60 and 80 mph on gradual acceleration. It does not stop if I let off the gas. I can feel the vibration slightly in the steering wheel but mostly in the floorboard of the vehicle.

The seats headrest vibrate when this is occurring. I have spoke with a couple other Kia dealers that are not close by and one suggested that they have seen this and two other stingers and they felt it was the air rushing into the brake vents for the Brembo brakes. My car is currently sitting at the Kia dealership waiting to be seen.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dwight

Welcome. Moving this topic out of the community lounge and into the main Stinger forum...

unbelievable! you are getting a rash of crap from every kia dealer that you've talked to so far. I've never heard that last one. seriously, air rushing through the brake vents!? you can't imagine these kinds of lameass excuses before someone barfs them up. keep trying you have to get a good Kia dealer sooner than later. but you've already satisfied lemon law requirements for most states, it's been well over a month of the same problem not addressed more than once. I think that experiencing this out the gate would sour me on Kia forever. should have kept your k5 it sounds like, but I can of course understand the impulsive trade in. what I don't understand is why you didn't get down and scope out the undercarriage panels thoroughly (and that dealer has to be complete crap to not make the car ready to go by getting it up in the air first and replacing the missing panels, wth?) I think from what you've described that a damaged wheel is equally likely or more so than a driveshaft, and since you feel this mostly through the floor and back of the seat it would be a rear wheel. it's amazing that there is no frontal damage to go along with this.

Hmm.. Didn't realize brembos were available on the gtline in 2023.

I'd say at this point it's time to consult an attorney to help you exercise the lemon clause.

When I got my '22 gtline, I encountered several weird concerns.

All of these were gtline models test driven. I was after a ceramic silver model.

1) white model - Had some kind of rattle on the passenger side, loose screws/bolts in the door???
2) initial model preped for me, ceramic silver - at speeds above 55 mph car had sensation as though a window was open, but all were closed. I passed on this one

3) Car I took home - just off the truck, had 12 miles to start. 36 Miles at the end of the test drive.

Before signing any paper work I required the car be placed on a lift for further inspection. They complied. During inspection I had them remove the lower engine cover so I could further inspect the engine/trans for leaks. None were found. This was the car I ended up taking home.

It's sad one has to go through this, but a previous buying experience has taught me well. That involved a honda accord - discovered trans leaking on one model and corrosion on another. Passed on both. Ended up buying elsewhere.

if you lease, none of those things matter, since you replace the car in a couple or three years.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
If you can, maybe try with a different set of wheels. The potenzas are well known for being very stiff. If you are on the "19 any slight problem with the wheel will be felt.
