So let me say first I have never had Brembo or any other high end brakes. I have noticed at lower speeds (30mph to 0mph) when applying consistent pressure to the pedal that it will slow down like normal and then bite twice as hard when I get to around 15mph. Is that normal? Maybe they brakes need to be bleed? Maybe it is the auto braking system kicking in?

*Brakes, pedal...

You're supposed to ease up on the pedal pressure as you're coming to a stop. Otherwise you get the effect you described above.

Question, (and don't take this the wrong way), have you been driving long? For many of us this is second nature, but if you're new to driving this might be something that needs attention.

I don't think it matters what kind of brakes the car has, 4 piston fixed or standard floating calipers. You'll get the above effect so long as the brakes are well matched to the car.

lol I have been driving for 30+ years and never had any cars brakes do this. I am well aware right before coming to a complete stop you ease up on the pedal, but this is at like 15mph far from a dead stop. I am saying it seems to change the braking force being applied even when I am not adding more force and found it to be odd.

Lol.. Ok, disregard that theory :)

Maybe what you're feeling is the downshifts (more pronounced in sports mode) which adds more engine braking. I notice this in mine. It's gotten smoother as more miles accumulate (~900 now).

If you want to put this to a test, find an empty stretch of roadway. Shift into N at ~30 mph then brake normal. What happens?

Or he could go into the vehicle settings/configuration and select coasting.

^^As I understand it, the coasting mode only works when one is in eco mode. I've tried it a few times, can't say I felt it coast. Need to read up on the other conditions involved.

When I got my car a month ago I didn’t notice any engine braking when slowing down. When I checked the vehicle settings I noticed that coasting was checked, so I unchecked it. I’m driving in Comfort mode during the”wear in” (400+ km’s so far) period and I can now feel engine braking. I cannot say what happens in Sport mode yet.

I get that issue also, when I'm easing on the brakes to almost 15mph then completely off, my brakes do bite hard for some reason. Thought it was just me.

I agree with JSolo. You're probably feeling engine braking from a downshift. 3-2 and 2-1 can be kind of harsh and jerky, and I can see how it could be mistaken for sudden increased braking.

Ok so after a drive I can confirm it is indeed the down shift from 2nd to 1st gear. It's just setup to shift between the gears with rpms to high apparently and results in me thinking it was the brakes. Thanks all for the input. I'll just have to get use to it...

I can confirm it's the shift from 2nd to 1st gear that's causing this for me just wanted you to know.
