• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

I'm sure you will all redirect me to a request that has popped up before. Just bought a new GT2/2022. Want to order new snows/wheels for winter? Will not be using old rims no matter what. Should I stick with 19" or shift to 18" - concerned about Brembo clearance. Would welcome advice.

I have seen 18in wheels on these cars so I know that some of them will fit. I think your biggest challenge will be finding the correct offset. I recommend fitment industries. You basically enter your car info and they tell you what fits.

Tire Rack.
Buy a package that comes mounted and balanced to your door.
If they say it'll fit, it'll fit.
Several 18" options.

I started this thread a while ago:

Generally 18s fit, just don't get one where the valve stem is located in the center of the rim.

Depending on one's environment, 18" is greatly preferred over 19". Chicago (IL) roads are just crap in general. 18" is good compromise between handling and comfort. I wouldn't want 19" performance tires in this area. This is probably not a concern for the younger folk - it wasn't a concern for me a decade ago. It is now :)

I had to get dedicated wheels for the winter tires for the G. Discount tire had an 18" wheel that just _barely_ cleared the akebonos (fixed 4 piston calipers). It was close but didn't touch. I'd say there was ~3/16" clearance between the spokes and caliper body. Stock on this car were also 18" wheels but different spoke design that offered greater clearance.

Regarding the 18" wheels, what tire size would be best for the GTW AWD. I live in Toronto and we do get some nasty weather at times. Do you recommend 225 40 R18 or can you go with a wider 235 45 R18 for all 4 wheels. Your feed back is appreciated. TY.

I run 225/45-18.

A 225/40 is a fair bit smaller in diameter than stock. For a winter tire I would probably go with the 235/45 for the close to stock diameter, extra ground clearance, and more sidewall for comfort and pothole resistance.

Hey, I went with Tire Racks recommendation ,wheel and tires ( 18 inch Pirelli run flats) for my 2019 AWD GT and am very impressed with them ,really have not had too much deep snow the one (so far )6 inch wet snow was easily driven thru, the every day driving on winter pavement was very good ,more than I expected

Which Pirelli's did you get?

So I'm thinking of using my stock 19" rims for winter as I'd like to get new black rims for next summer. What tire size would be best for winter on the the stock 19? I will use the Pilot Sports on the new summer wheels.

Thanks for your feedback.

A narrower tire is going to cut the snow better than a wider tire. A 225/40 will fit on the 8.5" wide OE wheel; might look more stretched of course, but how much will .5" wider make visibly? And in the Great White North most of the time barreling through snow who would notice anyway? :)

Really doesn't matter much. You aren't going to be cutting through feet of snow trying to get down to traction with a stinger or any other low car. Seriously, snow will be piling up on the front fascia long before skinny tires would be beneficial. For a higher vehicle, then narrower tires can get you more penetration and the ability to drive through some deeper snow, but IME, this really isn't a thing with these types of cars. The only thing you do going much narrower is decrease overall traction, as in other situations you rely on contact patch and when it's smaller, there will be less traction. You wouldn't want crazy wide, but anything 225-255 should be perfectly fine. No reason to be going to 205 or something like that.

According to TR and various manufacturers, 225 is well within the size profile of 8.5 rims, as in "green zone". I think it helps to stiffen the sidewall more and it's what you really want for performance driving, except you want wider wheels, but you want the tires to not be going the other way, sticking out, because you'll get collapsing sidewalls easier. 225 still works on 9", but it's outside the "optimal" range there. It'd probably start looking stretched there and especially any rim size above that.

can you put a 225/45/19 on the stock 2022 rims? Would a 235/45/19 work as well on stock rims? sorry for the noob question. I have not had to buy tires in a very very long time.

What stock rims, are they both 8.5? Are they staggered? I have a calculator for 18" tires and for 19", but it's based off the 18" OEM size. What's the 19" OEM size?

225 45 might be too tall of a tire profile for the 19s, its 3.5% bigger diameter than 40 profile. 40 profile is what you'd want most likely and while I don't know what the OEM is, I'd guess it's probably 40. 235 by 45 is like 4.5% bigger than 225 40 profile. That's some pretty serious speedo error and possible tire rub. Others may know how much bigger you can go tire-wise as far as diameter, but usually, people keep the same diameter by adjusting tire profile accordingly.

Stock tires are Pilot Sport 4S, 225/40/19 on front, 255/35/19 rear. Looks like 19x8 front, 19x8.5 rear.
