Hello everyone, just bought a white 2021 GT with 1,600 miles on it. Got it for $43,000 OTD. I think I overpaid but it is OK because new models near me all had dealer mark ups in So Cal. Glad to be part of the stinger family.

Howdy to your new car (and you, of course). Cali is markup haven (if you're a dealer). When I got mine in March of 2018, my salesman said he talked to a guy in Cali who knew of a Stinger sale that was $20K over MSRP. When I asked how that is even possible, he said that lots of people down there have money to burn and demand instant gratification: the Stinger must have been seen as "the new thing" to that someone. So, I'd say you did alright. :P

Congrats and welcome
Yeah I paid 35K OTD new last year for mine but it was an “end of the year” sale before the crazy markups. The enjoyment from driving this car will pay for itself, no worries…

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! What did the Stinger replace for you? I’m glad you found us. :)

You overpaid though. :p
There's more than one way to look at it.

If your standard is the $38k it cost to buy a GT2 back in 2018 with lease cash/buyout, almost all of us who purchased after that have overpaid.

If you consider OP's $43k deal for a car that:
  • could pass for $70k to onlookers
  • performs and coddles in the ballpark of $60-$70k cars, including ones that have been updated after the Stinger was released
  • does almost everything well and some things exceptionally well
especially in the current market, it's a damn steal.

I agree, I think you did well. I'm in the SoCal area and car markup is absolutely crazy.

I meant overpaid as in what he paid for his Stinger compared to what other Stinger owners paid for their Stingers. He even said he thinks he overpaid and other forum members said he overpaid.

No argument here. Just pointing out there is a bigger horizon than what other Stinger owners were able to buy for, and nothing to be gained by wishing we did better after the papers have all been signed.

I do wonder though: among any owners that did not get the consensus "good deals," how many of them are vocal about what they spent? Probably comparable to the number that start posts to say "30,000 trouble free miles" versus the posts about problems and mod choices.

Anyhow, hope all are happy with their deals and their cars, regardless of where on the spectrum the numbers fell. So many variables in life, it's probably not going to matter that much in the long run.

You're a very insightful person! I love that!

Yeah I completely agree. I hope I wasn't coming across like a "smart butt" with my previous post. I remember a buddy of mine paid $70k OTD for a freakin' Civic Type-R a few years back and I told him he got conned.

idk... too many variables. :p

Just a little update on the car, right after I bought the car, I had a fuel gage issue which dealer couldn't fix for the 3 times I took it in for the repair. I contacted Kia of America and offered them to buy the vehicle back. They offered me to either buy it back or pay $5000 for the inconvenience and send a Kia special technician to the local Kia dealer to try to fix it. I love the car but tired of this dealer non sense.

Sorry to hear that. What are you replacing it with?
