Hey guys,

Just joined the stinger forum, hope this is an acceptable post topic.

I've had my stinger since January 2021 and it has almost 5000 miles. Ever since around 3000 miles though I've noticed some really actions.

It often lags (I press the gas pedal and the engine stays very low rpm for at least a whole second before accelerating). Another weird thing is when driving at low speeds in sport mode (5-15 mph) the transmission can't decide what gear to be in and it rocks the car back in forth in a really uncomfortable manner.

Another thing about the car that could maybe somehow be related is the car's cruise control is always off by 1+ mph, and sometimes just decides to accelerate a few mph above the setting and coast down.

Let me know what you guys think!

Howdy and welcome. You could be uber sensitive to such things as you describe. Unless the trans starts to hang fire or shifting turns into "limp mode", or harsh shifting develops, I wouldn't worry about it being "confused" at very low speeds in Sport mode: staying at low speeds in Sport mode is already confusing the poor creature: it wants to GO in Sport mode. :D One thing you could do is move the shifter to the left and use the paddle shifters at slow speeds: that would entirely eliminate the up and down shifting that bothers you. As for the lag in acceleration: that could either be some turbo lag (that isn't supposed to be a thing in this car, really) or something entirely separate from transmission shifting. Again, it could be your sensitivity. As for cruise control: this creature apparently has quite a bit of variability from vehicle to vehicle even when operating properly. Surging under cruise control is the most often expressed complaint.

There is a slight delay between pedal input and engine reaction. It varies depending on drive mode and conditions.
The cruise in my car generally stays at the set speed, but will also be just as happy at -1 or +1.

IF there is a problem (and I rather doubt it), I'd expect one of the speed sensors isn't working quite right, causing the ECU to have problems understanding exactly what's going on. Troubleshooting something like that is quite difficult though.

You can always go to the dealer, but I would expect a few days of frustration that just ends with "Could Not Reproduce"

I also have a 2021 GT Line. I noticed more turbo lag than I did on my 2015 Optima SXL with the same engine. I just use the paddle shifters and I keep the rpms at 2000 or above. Doing that eliminates the lag.

That's throttle and transmission lag. Full torque is at 1400rpm. That lag is built into most cars these days for efficiency and only erased by driving in sport modes or with aftermarket throttle coding. Turbo lag isn't really a thing anymore.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Hi,
I got this report from my trusty mechanics about my auto transmission at the 10k service. "Transmission shifting incorrectly-Appears to be going in/out of converter lock-up"

Any ideas?

Cheers
