2021 Consumer Reports for Kia Stinger

Here is what the 2021 Consumer Reports magazine had to say about the Stinger and where it was ranked (10th) among small luxury cars. Surprised it is considered a small car and not mid-size.

How the hell a 228i Gran Coupe placed on the same chart and above the Stinger I have no idea.

Look at that, brakes, paint, and noises all ranked poorly. Pretty much sums up the most common problems we seem to hear about on this forum.

Agree. My buddy who is 6’2” fit in the back without issue, said it was actually comfortable. And nothing compares to the hatch space.

This is the reason why I bought the Stinger and not the G70. Rear and trunk space.

Seriously. My WRX fit with ease in my garage. The Stinger I have to be careful pulling it in so I can actually open the door, not hit anything, etc. It's not a small car at all.

But they did get a couple other things right. Visibility is not the Stinger's strong suit.

Man I was pissed when I found out the 228i GC was not actually a GC...as in it had no rear hatch like a 4-series GC (I had a 4-series GC). It's butt-ugly too. One hell of an odd car. Every review I checked out said "yeah, it's a BMW, but it's not like driving the other BMWs". I think it's one of the mini-chassis cars.

The Stinger is pretty big, feels a little bigger than my 4GC.

I don't think of the Stinger as small either, but it's actually shorter than mainstream mid-sized sedans like the Accord and Mazda 6. Maybe that's why CR categorizes it as small.
