Hey guys,
I recently bought the used CPO 2020 Stinger GT and paid the guy at the wrap shop to remove the badge for me.
All the other badge removal process went about as well as I expected but the STINGER badge on the left side of the car left a very visible glue mark.
It almost looks like the badge was glued on using the superglue.

Is this normal? Any way to get rid of the mark?
I tried using Goo gone with microfiber at home but it seems to be not effective at all.

The guy who removed it said paint correction should be able to get rid of the mark and offered me a discount on the paint correction with the ceramic coating but I cannot help but feel that I am getting hustled for his shitty work.
Let me know your opinion.
Thank you

They've left you with a bit of a mess there, if they tried to pass that off as a professional job they should be embarrassed.

Goo gone is good stuff but needs a bit more than a rub with a cloth, let it soak in and use a plastic razor like the one below to carefully work around the edges and it will lift off with a bit of patience.

He's also left you with some light scratches that will be very noticeable in the sun, they'll need a machine polish for sure. All fixable but this guy has turned what should be a pretty straight forward job into a bit of a ball ache.

ah thank you for the tool suggestion. Will paint correction and ceramic coat be able to cover up the damage :(

Yes paint correction means they'll polish out the scratches, it's usually used to buff out the micro abrasions that get left over time by washing known as "swirl marks", always more noticeable on dark paint colours. Ceramic coating won't help but it gets applied after the paint's been made good in order to add a thin layer of protection it in the future, it also repels water so stops contaminants bonding to the paint which means its easier to keep clean.

Thank you for the explanation. I guess I will get that done to my Stinger then. Candian Winter is pretty harsh so the extra layer of protection is going to be better than nothing lol

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Seems normal to me (the glue) portion. I used paper towel with a shit ton of goo gone and took my time with it.

Also definitely get a paint correction done. Not by him if not confident, but elsewhere.

haha will do. Do you know how much is the reasonable price for paint correction with ceramic coating?

That's a repaint.

Paint correction is fixing the clear coat. That is too far gone for just clear coat.

D: shoot hopefully I am not that screwed. If this is the case can I just repaint the trunk? Would it even be worth :(

I think that your pic shows swirls in the clear coat. Nothing in there looks like it hit the color coat. As for getting the glue off, that's entirely a different matter. I add my vote to using a softener and gathering up the glue with a plastic edge tool. I'd try isopropyl alcohol and acetone in conservative amounts, on a single spot, to test how to make the glue soften. Good luck to you.

I was going to say, nothing in there looks like it went into the paint. I mean yeah it looks badly swirled to all hell. Definitely try using goo gone a bit more along with the plastic scraper. Depending on how long it has been exposed to the elements it could be pretty well hardened and stuck and will need a bit more patience and attempts to clean it up. After you get that cleaned up have a proper shop that knows their stuff about paint correction take a look.

As for pricing, it's tough to really quote a price as every region charges different amounts. Even in my own area places charge way more for paint correction and ceramic coating than if I head about an hour and a half south. It's about half the price down there. Also paint correction prices can change depending on how much time they need to spend on it to get it properly cleaned up, or at least that's what I've noticed.

But the OP had this "glue" only on the left side stinger badge. All other badges came off with no residue!

For that reason, this is NOT normal.

Thank you for your inputs guys I really appreciate it.
I am dropping off the car tomorrow at the same place to get the car paint corrected and ceramic coated. Hopefully I will see a big improvement. I will post up the picture once it's done.

Take before and after pics if you can.

I have had a few touch ups on previous cars. That rear section is plastic. You would be looking at $500.

Hey Guys,
Here is the update, I went to a different more competent auto detail shop and the guy said that the previous owner most likely super glued the badge. Since the KIA is pretty notorious for their thin paint job, he said it would be nearly impossible to remove it without leaving bad scratches or deep paint damage so I decided to put the original logo back and remove the big center STINGER logo :(
I will most likely get rear E emblem badge and put it on.

Wow. That is awful luck. Here's something you could try. Acetone melts super glue. If you use it sparingly, or rather directly on the glue it might soften enough to remove with the plastic edged tool. If the acetone doesn't phase the super glue right away, and it looks like that is going to be too tedious of a job, then your solution is probably all you've got. At least you can get those nasty swirls out with a good rubbing compound followed up with polishing compound. No reason to live with that.

You can always put a similar dimension badge to cover it up.

IIRC - GT twinturbo badge etc.. but I can't remember if they're a tad too small or just right.

That way you can still have your large stinger script in the middle.
