Based on these videos it appears the 2020 Stinger is faster with better response than earlier models.
I also read a review of 2020 Stinger in which they managed to beat the previous 0-100 acceleration.

I have a MY18 Stinger, and apart from some cosmetic changes, there has never been any power gains or changes between a MY19 and also a MY20 to give later models a better response, the only possible change that might even make a minute gain in anyway could be fitting Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres instead of the original factory Continentals, and that may only be a gain only in ride quality and grip on the road. How each reviewer tests 0 to 100 times has to be questionable on accuracy and skill of the driver. I feel comfortable to call myself a Stinger veteran, as there are many here, and have never heard MY20s are faster than previous versions. Please feel free to correct me anyone if this is true, according to these videos.
Finally, I watched those two videos when they were first posted on youtube, and posted them on this forum myself actually, the way the times were conducted were questionable by forum members here, that's my take on this, open too hear what others believe.

No. MY18 through MY20, have stayed the same. You'd hear about it here, first, if there was anything to this assertion that Kia has bumped the performance up on later model years.

2019 and 2020 models are I fact dialed down from what I’ve see . Likely to assist with extending life of power train. Real world 0-60 times reported seem to be a good distance from where early 18 cars were. My guess is changes in launch control.

I would have to disagree. The 2019 and 2020 cars have show to often be slower than early cars. Id like to see draggy times avg 2019 up vs early 2018 cars . I firmly believe the cars will prove more conservative lc specifically the Canadian cars. I rarely see Canadian gt limitled models which may be mapped differently for the lesser quality premium fules in some provinces run sub 5’s 0-60. Myself and another local member we run similar md 4’s on jb4 map2 with plugs. 4.5-4.6 religiously on 91 octane and 5’s on map 0

The merge pipe was changed from metal to plastic. other than that not much else.

Nothing has changed power wise from 18 to 20. Neither is faster or slower than the other
Throttle mapping, transmission shift points and a bunch of other parameters can alway influence acceleration regardless of power outputs.

That’s correct, but was any of that changed between 2018 and 2020 MYs?

My hunch is that the Stinger has gotten slower rather than faster. I think I saw a 0-60 time of 5.x in a recent car magazine. It was the issue where they compared the Stinger to the G70. Anyway, back in 2018, Stingers were pulling mid to high 4's in the magazines. It is only one data point, but still a significant change.

Launch control between those two videos was totally different. One looked to be about 1,500 rpm while the 2020 model looked to be closer to 2,200 rpms. It is entirely possible that launch control is different for 2020 than it was for the 2018 model. That or maybe they just tested it differently?

All of the torque is available all the way down to 1,300 rpms. However, a higher rpm launch may be more desirable.

Likely no difference, but the claims that the new models can’t compete with the older models is getting more and more compelling.

My guess is after the press was done their job establishing the car and the market began to gain momentum it makes sense that they would dial back some features to make it more reliable due to a number of factors. I remember Tork Motorsport ( memory is a bit fuzzy with age) struggled with changes to the ecu on a 2020 vs earlier cars. The good news is with no internal changes they can all be overcome with modifications

numbers suggest otherwise. Do a poll of 19-20 times vs 18 and we can really decide.

I think the 2020 model is a bit faster. No one slows a car down with newer models. Just look at the 2021 model. It comes with increased HP not less.

Engines get minor revisions with new models and that makes them more efficient and faster.

Without some concrete evidence that Kia has changed the mapping, tuning, or random parts sometime between the 2018 and 2020 models, we’re all just spewing conjecture. There are multiple variables that can effect 0-60 times: atmospheric pressures, temperatures, elevation, heat soak, fuel, weight (how much extra crap is in the car, how heavy is the driver), tires, etc. Forming an opinion based off of constantly changing variables and then presenting them as fact is lazy and makes no sense.

Could a 2020 be faster than a 2018? Sure, see the variables above. Could a 2018 be faster than a 2020? Sure, again see the variables. Is either one ACTUALLY faster than the other from the factory? Without concrete evidence of tweaks from Kia, no.
