My condolences on your recent loss. I would have the dealer check the charging system, at least the battery and the alternator. It is not impossible that the alternator is not working properly.

You need to register the new battery on german cars. It’s not like plug and play.
Glad to hear you are good to go......I would just replace the battery but to @shoengine 's point, let the dealer check things out and make sure the system is up to snuff. If you did not get the car from a Kia dealer, take it to Kia and if there is a charge, you may get the dealer you purchased from to reimburse.
