2018 JD Power winner Compact-Premium Car.

Shocking? Why would it? JD power is crap. I have driven enough cars I trust my own experience over numb nuts at JD powers. Hey 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera didn’t get award either. Boo hoo. I’m going to cancel my order. ...not.

If you need somone other than yourself to assess a car I’d recommend Chris Harris or guys over at EVO. They are real enthusiasts not industry hacks.

Just curious....

These ratings are based on -owner- ratings - not random JD Powers reviewers whipping ratings out of thin air like some rags.

So are you accusing Stinger owners in general of being 'hacks'?

-Any- review, whether by owners or professionals are subjective. Just because you may not agree with them doesn't make them 'hacks'. This includes Chris Harris and EVO.

As I read this, the ratings are "according to verified new-vehicle owners", not based on the opinions of numb nuts at JD Power. I'm surprised at how the cars at the bottom of the list are rated so poorly by their owners. Seems like there's a lot of buyer's remorse out there. It could be simply that the Stinger exceeded buyer's expectations (I didn't expect a Kia to be this good) while the other vehicles fell short of the buyer's expectations.

I have a low opinion of this marketing firm because of the way they grouped the vehicles, the competitors in this class are in no way true competitors to the Stinger (but vehicles in a difference class are..) I have to wonder if anyone involved actually knows the first thing about cars.

That said, the way the rankings are scored is as you say - based on expectations and opinions of owners. Instead of creating rankings, however, they should simply post the raw data and let readers decide. Oh, yeah.. we know how that goes!

I've rarely selected a product of any type based on advertising or marketing promotion, although they might have influenced my decision to include them in my research - there is a difference.
