Hi all,

Still new in the Stinger world ( 2 months owner ), coming from the Scooby society. So here is my query, hope you can help out.

Car is equipped with OEM 18 inch wheels ( 18X8, ET35 ), with square tires - 225/45/18, which are low and wheels stick out.
Looking for a staggered set up on the OEM 18 rims, as roads quality is bad, so need higher profile tires, hence not an option for going 19`s and higher.
Currently reviewing 2 options:

1. 225/45 Front and 245/40 Rear

2. 235/45 F & 245/45 R, as second options will grant me some more ground clearance.

Question is - what is the car front/rear axle speed difference tolerance ( stability control/ESP limit )?

Tnx

Tolerance is 3% difference. You'll be totally fine, specially on RWD. Second option is only 1.5% difference front to rear.

Thank you.
Out of the above 2 tire set options, which one would be mostly suited to the Stinger?

Was staggered on the previous setup but rears wore out much faster. Now on a square setup, 245/45r18 all around and able to rotate tyres so can max them out.

Thank you.

The first option will make the car taller in the front. Second option is better.

Had an 2003 STI ( 370hp ) on a 235/40/18 and was not handling well - front end tended to follow every patch / curve on the road and made steering heavy. So went down to 235/45/17.
My other sport car Evo 7 ( same power ) as the STI was handling ok with 235/40/18
As i am quite new with the Stinger only reason I was not reconsidering summer square set up is the above combined with the fact it is a 2.0T, not the more powerfull 3.3T.

Tnx again.
What is the risk of having worse steering and heavier feel ( less agile / sporty ) with F235/45 & R245/45 vs F225/45 & R245/45?

That’s what I’m on, the 2.0L

Great, what are major differences between your current set, previous staggered and if you have stock/winter square set up (225/45/18 all around)?

Can you specify what are the major differences between staggered, square and stock square set up ?

Stock setup is square, meaning rims and tyres are the same size and spec at all 4 corners. Staggered is usually wider rear rims and tyres

235/45r18 front and 265/40r18 rear gave the car a nice look, same size as factory and within 1% tolerance

I am familiar with the sizes and etc, was asking about difference in terms of handling, agility, cornering...
Sorry - should have been more specific in my previous post

Trying to understand which way to go considering my taste - staggered on the 18” or square 245

Handling wise am liking the wider 245/45 fronts, grippier and corners well and yet comfy. Am on Ark GT-F springs though so those have improved the handling a lot. Rear 245/45s have been holding up well, no slides or dramas so far. Little bit of wheelspin when launching though.

Tnx Robs, what about staggered - does the car feel lighter and more sporty with the narrower front tires, how is the steering?

Having wider rears won’t change the handling dynamics much apart from traction. I know 3.3L owners who are on 285 rears and are still sliding.

will be keeping stock 18” rims unless i find smth better, hence limited in choice when it comes to staggered and square sets.
Staggerred is 225/235/45F and 245R max, while square is like yours 245.
Question is : is there a downside if going square 245, vs staggered 235F 245R? And i am referring to heavier front end and etc potential effects if any?

Went square 245/45/18 on stock rims with new Conties.
Happy with handling, performance and ride quality.
Thanks to Rob for sharing his experience and to rest gents taking the time on this selfish thread

You also get more rim protection!
