Hello guys I’m new here, just purchased a 2.0 Premium last week and have already done some small mods.

I installed the GT Upper grille but I’m looking at getting the GT Lower grille as well. Does anyone know if it will fit? I’ve read mixed answers.

Thanks

I'm not entirely sure but the bottom grill opening may be different size for the GT variant.

I found this: "Has Anyone Pulled Their Front Bumper?" | Kia Stinger Forum Has Anyone Pulled Their Front Bumper?

How did you install the top grill? May I see what it looks like? I'm interested since the GT one looks way cooler.

There was one member here that ordered one and tried to install it and he said it definitely does NOT fit. The 2.0 lower grill is bigger by a wide margin. I was looking into changing out both grills too, but since the lowers don't fit I decided to go a different route so that the upper and lower grill would match, so I had them wrapped by a shop in a dark metallic.

While they were at it I also had them match all the silver trim to the same metallic gray or blacked out.

Also, got the bulges on the lower bumper wrapped to match dark lower trim and accented the lower diffuser in the dark metallic

Did you use knifeless tape to help put down the vinyl (assume it is vinyl?) particularly in the rear?

Oops I should have mentioned I had it installed by a shop. I'll go back and edit it.

Yes it's vinyl. The shop used Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping film. I don't know how they installed it but they had the car for several days because they were covering basically all the hard trim pieces.

Hi LuckyStinger. I have the 2.0L as well, and looking to install just the upper GT grille (not the black chrome frame; just the grille). Where did you get yours? And was it hard to install?

"Lucky" is a very infrequent visitor. That rates as an understatement. :P

Grills (upper and lower) show up on E-B every once in a while. Keep in mind that there are different grills for the cars with surround view cameras and/or the radar cruise control - they have a special blanking plate in the middle that is transparent to the radar signal. Although KIA sells them complete, some online used parts have the blanking plates and/or trim already removed (without noting that fact). Many are also broken (likely collision take-offs), so look at at any pictures in detail for cracks, broken tabs, etc.

Replacing the grill(s) requires first removing the front bumper cover, allowing you to access the retaining screws from the back. It's not a big job once you know what you're doing, and removal is detailed in other threads - it's required for intercooler changes, etc.

I see. Thank you. I think I might've found just the grille without the frame piece/trim online.

Do you know if the upper grille of the base model can be switched out for the GT frille without the driver assistance? I know the bottom grilles aren't the same between the two models

I couldn't say for certain, though the upper grills all appear to be the same size, with the same attachment points.

The GT grills without the radar plate are a continuous open honeycomb - that is probably what you'd be interested in as a replacement for the base trim grill.

I believe this is the grill design for the base/non-GT cars.

The ones with the radar blanking plate have an open aperture/frame in the middle where the radar plate is affixed, which has a matching 'simulated' honeycomb graphic printed on it.

You can get all the part numbers for these (and reference diagrams) at one of the online KIA dealers part sites. Having the part number can be a big help when doing a search for used parts.

It appears that KIA sells new grills only as complete assemblies, but they are held together with screws and plastic tabs and easily disassemble into their component parts - radar plate, chrome trim, grill mesh, surrounding shroud. They do list the radar blanking plates (only) for standalone purchase - they are shockingly expensive (as are the new grills that incorporate them, compared to those without), so they must have magical radar properties.

Thank you for all the explanation. That was quite helpful. I'm looking to purchase this part here. And the pricing looks reasonable somewhat.
