When throttle is 100% your ECU is adjusting timing back (ign2-6) about 2-3 degrees. So it's seeing some mild knock at least. The quick launch started with a bit more timing retard but then again went to 2.29. Maybe this is as intended as you push towards the max safe level.

Yes and more. It's all the conditions at the point of combustion that determine if the combustion goes as planned. The air fuel mixture, what the resistance of it is to detonation (octane, water, meth), the temperature, the pressure, the timing of the spark, the quality of the spark. It looks like you are asking just barely too much, pushing it just past perfect combustion. So you then have to decide what knobs you have available to turn that you are willing to turn. You can pull back timing or reduce boost or richen the a/f ratio... But these will all reduce performance. You can inject water or meth to extend the resistance to detonation. You can work on ways to reduce the temperature of the air coming in (maybe your intercooler is heat soaking).
But yes, the lowest hanging fruit is just increase the octane of the fuel just enough to not see timing corrections by the ECU if you want to run map 2.
Or maybe up to the values you are seeing are deemed acceptable for our cars. That's where I don't have experience yet. My preference would to never have the car start doing damage control due to an ignition event.
2.3 or less timing pull is ok. if you have access to better gas, try that. if you can get it to 0-.8 range then you are great. Map 2 looks ok though. also, try to do a longer pull when logging, say 20-100 mph if possible. gives you a nice picture running through say 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Just get the best gas you can and check a log periodically to make sure you are seeing good timing.
Thanks for the info, that pull was on a very hot Australia Day and the car had been sitting in the sun all day. I’ll try another few pulls tonight on map 1 and 2 and post the results.
