+The losses that'll add to the trade in value. That sucks!

Deer jerky?

Ouch - that's a pretty significant amount of damage. On the bright side, the car is so new you'll certainly be getting genuine KIA replacement parts throughout, and it should be good as new when it finally comes out the other side.

Those can be very dangerous encounters, for everyone involved - especially if it was a mature animal. We've had highway accidents like that around here where the people in the car didn't fare so well - hope the wife is OK ...

Unfreakingbelievable! That amount of damage cost is getting pretty close to "totaled" for a Base Stinger. I'd be really torn both ways on this one; fix it (fast) or give me a new one. But pretty sure you'll get repaired.

The other day, I was up on Bountiful Blvd with my grandson, and on the other side of the "rollercoaster dip" (a very brief and favorite part to go fast for a second or two), suddenly, there was a doe skipping across the road in my headlight wash. I thought: this is a pretty stupid thing to do when it is getting dark. And I won't be doing that again when it's dusk.

Wife and 3 year old grand daughter in the car seat are fine. Air bag didn't go off, which seems strange to me, with that much front end damage. Happened at 11:30 in the morning. Not a typical time of day for deer to be moving. She said this one was in a full on sprint when it crossed her path.

By the time I got home from work, the deer would have been sitting too long for me to consider taking it. If it was me that hit it, I probably would have took it! Depending on how mangled it was.:sick:

Yeah the cars value just dropped significantly. That is what sucks the most. But we planned on keeping it a long time so I'm mostly hoping it gets fixed correctly so we don't have trouble and everything works as it did.

First - glad your family was not injured.

Not surprised airbag didn't go off, I'd be thankful for that - shows how accurately the systems can respond to impact. I was in a major collision a few years back but front airbags did not deploy, only side. I didn't have a bruise, but would have if the front had gone off.

While deer are more active in the mornings and evenings, I've seen them all day long here in metro Atlanta. I ride motorcycles and need my spidy-sense any time of day, in the city or up in the hills.

I saw one in the friggin 400 in the num 2 lane a few weeks ago near exit 12 at 4 am. I pooped a little when I saw it. I was lucky being in a different lane.

Just one headlight assembly is nearly $1700. Ouch.

Glad everyone is okay.

what is the update on your car ?

Wow...glad to hear everyone was okay.

The Stinger took that like a champ. Let us know how the repair goes.

Taking longer than expected. The ship had to wait for parts. Not scheduled to be finished till the 16th.

I had to wait three weeks for a strut. Hope yours goes faster. Side note, if you are paying for a rental car out of pocket and the delay is due to parts availability, customer service may be able to reimburse some of your cost. I am waiting on the decision myself.

Just got the car back a couple days ago. So far, so good. Shop did an excellent job. It took about a week longer than they estimated they had a little trouble getting [the correct] parts, so they say. They also had to take it to KIA dealer to get the electronics reset. Oh, and it went over the estimate. Cost about $14,500 when they were finally finished.

It looks as good as new and everything is working as it should so far.
