I did not know there was a 150 foot cat in the Battle of Hastings! Those arrows would not have penetrated its fur by the looks if things.

But falls a skosh short of Methuselah. The one thousand year mark since the Norman Conquest is coming up "soon" (you youngsters will be around, and it'll be here before you know it). I was alive and noticing things on the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. National Geographic printed the entire Bayeux Tapestry for that issue, which I still have.

(Ah, 1072 is another landmark year: the battle of Manzikert, the beginning of the end of the Byzantine empire; fought in eastern Asia Minor against the Seljuk Turks. The 11th Century is my favorite, "pivotal" historical interest: the year 1000 was the first mass expectation of the Millennium; people even stopped working for several months, awaiting the coming of Christ; then decided it might be a good idea to keep growing something to eat, and went back to work, still keeping an eye on the sky! )
