Went to my local dragstrip last night for Test and Tune night (brought my 14 year old kiddo)...made 5 passes. Pic is of my best ET, it is VS a 2020 Stinger 3.3 V6 TT STOCK. Mine has Injen CAI and Thermal R & D Cat Back... this should tell you what effect these Mods have on our cars. Better than what I hear naysayers say. I was slowly pulling him the whole way (he told me this as I never saw his car). This was best ET, my best trap speed was 101.54 MPH. Car was extremely consistent. With my 165lb son along for ride, I ran 14.009 @ 100.76 best time. There are some quick cars.. M5 I raced ran a 11.6 @ 119 MPH and an S7 ran 11.4's.. both modded but they have huge top end power.

My Sea level conversion puts me at 12.9 about 108 MPH...this sound correct?

I didn't run numbers but when I saw you were a mile high everything made sense. At 500 ft I would run 12.9 with just intakes and an MBRP cat back so I think your conversion is spot on.

Assuming a conversion to roughly 2800 ft DA, with my stock G70, you're basically right on target of stock power level. I'd say the mods you've done have not netted any additional power.

As with all mods on a stock car, if you do not tune it to take it vantage of it, it will make a smaller difference than you think.

subtracting for reaction time (RT), you won by 0.2s x 100mph = 0.2s x 150 ft/s = 30ft. You beat him in a perfect start race by less than 2 cars. going to sea level doesn’t matter if they’re the same car.

Don’t put an intake and cat back on a stock tune stinger to gain 30ft over the 1/4. Do it because it would make the car sound great. Yes you will be faster but as the data shows, marginally.

Its science and mathematics dude..not sure what the argument would be,
I'm really not trying to be a jerk, but your small margin of victory could have been numerous things. Those mods, without tuning, would net very little if any horsepower or torque improvements. ECU's don't magically make more power if air intakes are opened up, or exhaust restrictions are lessened.

It all comes down to you being happy with your car. If you are, that's all that matters.

I’m not gonna argue this with you .. Facts are I ran a 2020 STOCK Stinger 3 TIMES last night ,,, with the same results. 3/10 quicker and 2.5 mph faster. I even have a Video my kid took!! But uploading that would be pointless with you…
You can’t convince me these mods didn’t make this difference and I’m sure the ECU obviously has room for minor adjustments with these mods without a “tune”…or maybe it was just that KIA modded my Stinger from the factory…

I don’t think anyone is arguing with you. We’re just telling you 2/10ths (not 3, look at the RT) at 100ish mph is 2 cars. Yes it’s a bit faster, kudos.

ECU is torque based it’ll pull X amount of air and correct itself if it’s much higher. If it pulls air and expels air a bit easier it’ll hit its target load a bit easier, that’s it. It’s not making 40whp more is all. Don’t think if you add even more parts on stock car it’ll go even faster. Many cars work like this now.

Gone are the “throw on parts go faster” days, it all needs a tune… just depends on what we consider “faster”. You’re certainly not utilizing the full capabilities of those parts and the restrictions they’ve removed. Next up is downpipes of you really want to help the car.

14.160-13.858= .302
The reaction time doesn’t matter!! That only tells you how many cars you lost or won by!!
it was tune and test night…I didn’t care on RT . Bet for those that don’t know 1/4 crap racing… The clock starts when you trip the beam so RT is meaniless for 1/4 times and speed….it only shows the distance you won or lost by aka “car lengths”…

Duly noted, makes sense. So 3/10th faster. I mean, faster is faster, and it’s attributed to the parts alone, so you are right. I’m not one to mod a car unless I’m going to tune it, been down that road bunch of times and the stock ECU gets mad (not stinger, other cars).

if you can hear turbo whoosh sounds and fat exhaust notes, and you are faster and no DTCs? I’d call that a win for sure. Kudos

Took my stock 2022 GT2 AWD to the track last night and ran 8.442 1/8 mile @ 85mph. I went to get a baseline before any mods. Yes you will gain (some model cars have noted losses due to the factory tune) a few hp with an intake and exhaust but the $/hp ratio is very poor. There's much better mods to invest in if looking for hp.

Its a great start! My very first track trip was an 8.4 at 86mph with a 1/4 of 12.9 Tons of potential
