me too, when i'm sober. always, want to drive.WHAT!? I love to drive, not sit in the passenger seat and play with the touch screen.![]()
No Uber in your country?me too, when i'm sober. always, want to drive.
There are times I need a driver, lol. Usually on Friday nights.
Would love to...if it didn’t void the warranty. Setting it to 5-10 minutes I think would be good...especially for long drives. I know on straight aways...it requires input yet I’m just going straight.I would think just hacking the KIA software to increase the time you don't have to touch the steering wheel would also do the trick (for those properly equipped)? Can someone work on that pretty please?![]()
I am working on it now actually.I would think just hacking the KIA software to increase the time you don't have to touch the steering wheel would also do the trick (for those properly equipped)? Can someone work on that pretty please?![]()
It wouldn't void the warranty if done correctly.Would love to...if it didn’t void the warranty. Setting it to 5-10 minutes I think would be good...especially for long drives. I know on straight aways...it requires input yet I’m just going straight.
It is not perfect but if you are responsible and stay ready to take over when needed, you will be ok. I just took the stinger on an 1800mile road trip. 90% of the drive all I did was wiggle the wheel often, every time it would beep at me. It was great. Yeah i had to take over a few times, and keep it from exiting on offramps if I was in the right most lane. But it sure made the drive so much easier. That system is basically doing the same thing the Kia system is doing, except instead of 15 seconds of interaction with the steering wheel...you get 6 minutes. It uses the same lines on the lanes to determine how to drive. Try and take that car onto side streets or country roads and it'll fail...just like the Stinger will.
Tesla's system is way more advance. Tesla's are currently loaded with the technology to go from driving out of your driveway to driving side streets, highways, etc...by using a GPS address. It can even go and park itself without you in the car (can see that at end of video below). All of that is currently deactivated due to government regulations. Tesla's system uses many different types of radar.
This video will show you the many different types of radars that are in use. The systems out there are getting better by the day, but this is what Tesla had years ago. I can only imagine what they're capable of now.
Voiding warranty or not, why purchase a twin turbo anything with sport suspension if you are going to sit there and observe. Like watching the Mrs when she plays Forza, can't do much of anything except comment on when she vacuumed last.
Exactly. I actually take long freeway trips often, and don' drive like an a**hole the whole time. Haha. And when I want to spool up the twins, I turn that stuff off and go to town. For long haul trips it's definitely useful for some things, smacking the kids in the back of the car, eating a cheeseburger, Pornhub if you're into that sort of thing, etc...
It is open source now. Free for everyone to do with as they please. I am working on porting over the software to be compatible with our Kia stingers that have LKAS options installedI think that this was a project created by a coder named Geohot. He was well known for hacking Apple products. Might be one of the first to create the jailbreak for iPhones.
Anyways... he was planning on fully releasing this system, but the NHTSA advised him not to because there wasn’t a lot of actual hours of road testing.
