So as many of you with Stingers may have experienced, some of the downshifts can be a little jerky at times. More noticeable in sport mode, and it's basically the 4-3, 3-2 downshifts that are the culprit. It almost feels like the car is engine/trans braking really hard. I myself realized if you leave the car in manual mode and use the paddle shifters it can help a lot but sometimes it would be nice to not have to shift my own gears like if I am stuck in traffic. This leads me to the big question, does a TCU tune solve these issues? I know it helps a ton with launch control and the speed of the shifts but does it reduce the lurching of those hard downshifts and make them smoother. That or maybe anyone with a jb4 or ECU tune can chime in if it helped their rough downshifts. Any help would be appreciated!

No, I would say it makes the downshifts harder and the "engine braking" feel is more noticeable

My 4-3 downshift (using paddles) in sport mode was ROUGH.

I took it to the dealer and they reset the transmission adaptives and it's been perfectly smooth ever since.

If you don’t like feeling the shifts then run from a tcu tune. I’ve had mine for a week and it’s much more aggressive than stock in every aspect.

Im fine with it being aggressive, I just think its a bit odd how its only the 4-3, 3-2 downshifts make the car lurch a bit when the others don't. I'm all about performance and aggressive shift patterns thats why I'm interested in the TCU tune. Who did you get yours through?

I have the Lozic, shift pressure 2

So mine used to lurch coming to a stop, then on the Lozic TCU it doesn't do it anymore. win-win.

I knew someone would come along and answer me eventually lol. Now I just have to figure out if I go Lap3 or Lozic.

Or Tork? or is Lap3 and Lozic much better? I am looking into getting one myself and need to decide. Does anyone know if the Lap3 TCU tune comes with the TCU like Lozic?

My transmission is stock just like the rest of my car with the exception of my Borla catback and I think the stock transmission is pretty good. Not the best but pretty gosh darn good. :)

Lap3 does come on a separate tcu and ecu just like lozic. Please dont buy from torq, the guy that runs it is a pretty awful person, he has basically begged and tried to black mail lozic for their tuning information. Thats why if you go to his site his tcu tune is only $99. Hes doing it to take business from lap3 and lozic.

I have a Lozic and it makes it even the down shifts even more noticeable. In the city, i drive in sport less now after the TCU tune. But, i do love it when i want the performance.

I never asked for tuning information, I asked for the factory information that several tuners (more than one company was emailed) have been hoarding in Korea.

I am offering $99 TCU tunes, because the community benefits from said TCU tune. This is my loss, your gain price. If the other tuners loose sales from it, then they have to become more competitive with their pricing.

yes, the lap3 TCU is a another separate complete unit, like lap3 sends another whole ECU

Try the Sxth stage 2 tcu tune, it's very smooth. Gear shifts are fast and hardly noticeable. So smooth at times that you can only tell it's changed gear from the rpm noise change. Massive improvement over stock without tuning regular day to day driving. In sport mode when you are wot it will change at 5900 and again it's very smooth.
