I'm posting this video because I find it intriguing that the 2.0T can be made to not only be faster than the 3.3 liter twin turbo V6 - but faster than one that's been modified with an LAP3 chip, AEM methanol injection kit, Jun BL catback exhaust and 15 pounds of boost. It's purely here to show what the smaller engined Stinger is capable of...

The Optima is a 2012 SX with what is apparently a little stroke to 2.2 liters.

2012 Kia Optima SX 2.2 Turbo Mods:
LAP3 2.2L Forged Stroker Kit
Garrett GTX 2871r turbo upgrade
LAP3 GT2871r Canned Tune
44mm Tial Wastegate
KSR Front Mount Intercooler
KSR Cold Pipe
KSR Charge Pipe
AEM Meth Injection Kit
3" LAP3 Downpipe
3" Goose Garage Midpipe
3" AR Motorsports Catback
E30 Blend (non-E85 tune)
Boost: 24psi

That's my Stinger and that is my friend Garrett in the Optima. We built it in my garage with parts acquired from PROSS/LAP3.

Obviously it isn't running the stock turbo. But for full disclosure even through it is a 2.0, it is the earlier version of the 2.0 which was rated at 276 stock vs 255 in the stinger. And yes throw enough money into a car and you can make it stupid fast.

I would love to see this in a daylight run with better camera work , very impressive

What was your Optima running in the quarter mile? I know it's front wheel drive so that number doesn't tell the whole story...

Thats nice to know. Ill be waiting for optiona like this to come out for the 2.0t stinger. I cant even get. 100hp added to it yet. Lap3 doesn't seem to be holding up to 60HP GAIN and air intakes are only saying 5hp. Horrible. They have all kinds of 3.3 upgrades but nothing to serious for 2.0t.

Working with a JB4 customer on getting fuel control active for the 2L Stinger. As far as I know we have the only one regularly going to the track, may be the Stinger 2L world record holder? lol.

I checked that out.. Im not sure why i didn't find that before. Is there any 2.0t dynos results or track results? If you have dyno results, can i see the power distribution when shifting also? It also said up to 100 hp on stock. Does that mean if i have more done to the motor that it could increase hp even more? Sorry for so many questions. thanks for replying

I have the 2.0 Terry is referring to. This was my best 1/4 on a very hot and humid day.

Ok. I like that. Thank you. Just to clarify, no other mods were done on your car at that time and that is still a daily driver? Thanks again

I do have a NGM SRI and axle back exhaust to 2 1/4” with magnaflo mufflers. Prior to JB4 my best time with those mods was a 15.2. Yes this is my daily driver.

Was your exhaust custom? Why did you only go with the 2.25 piping? I would of figured at least 2.5 or 3 at max. Also what is NGM? SRI im guessing is short ram intake? Thanks

Yes the exhaust was custom made. I had ordered the mufflers and the exhaust shop configured the best way to fit them. The stock exhaust is 2” so a slight step up. I am by no means a mechanic, I trusted the shops reccomendation. They are a well known custom exhaust shop by me so I went with it. The SRI is a short ram intake I got from @ImportSharkMike

Can you make it faster than a 3.3? Sure. But mod for mod the v6 will destroy the 2.0 and handle higher horsepower much easier. Hopefully the 2.0 eventually sees the same love as the 3.3. It really just doesnt make sense though because the weight of the stinger.

Ok. Thanks. I was just wondering about your decision on piping in general. Your a great help

Well yea because ita a bigger engine. Your spending more money overall which if you have the money why not but i know i dont. Lol .Im ok with just keeping up if not passing the 3.3tt. Either way i love this car.

Wow that’s impressive. I bet it would be different on a dig race, but that’s one fast 2.2:thumbup:
