Sport Mode

I can live with that!

Honestly though you technically would see a slight increase in wear on the engine as it will be at a higher average RPM. How much additional wear is probably negligible. Change your oil regularly and keep up on maintenance and you'll be fine.

No ill effects whatsoever. It's purely a choice. I drove from Utah to Texas and back completely in Sport mode. I got pretty good gas mileage too, either side of 25 mpg; and my highest was 28.6 (that was trending downhill out of the Rockies, with a tailwind :D ).

Sport Mode is an addiction, I did my best to work it off and use Smart Mode but, I just relapse and turn that knob to the right on start up.

The only problem with sport mode is that it makes comfort mode feel like a dog (comparatively) when you go back.

Leave your knob alone.......

Didn't I read somewhere that sport mode does not use 8th gear?

Yep, 8th gear is not used in Sport mode & rev range changes up in most gears.

I never used 8th gear in Sport and with paddle shifters engaged (I discovered the manual gate afterward, heh). That's because I was consciously keeping my RPMs between 2K and 3K. Had I manually selected 8th gear, I wonder if continuing would have disengaged 8th electronically, or changed my "mode" to Comfort? Or would Sport have denied 8th gear altogether? Interesting question. I'll try it tomorrow.

That was probably a silly non question. I drove with the paddle shifters and most of the time in 8th gear. It was good enough for most of the driving. When passing or getting out of the way (clearing the area) most of the time 7th gear was low enough to get the power I needed, and 6th gear was definitely low enough to meet all freeway speed requirements for acceleration. The first time I moved to the paddle shifters in Sport mode it was already in 8th gear.

this is why the forum is great....cause I thought i was "getting short shifted" with my car...couldnt get it to go into 8th gear and was getting a lil peo'd :) Ive read the manual too....lol So I guess ive just told on myself? Oh okay there's the comfort mode...oh hey there's an eco mode....btw the gas mileage suks in the stinger....;) Wash

You mean the 3.3L I presume. You weren't getting this car to get great gas mileage, were you? Because if you were, you're just going to have to live with disappointment. But if you drive it in Eco and strive for economy in that mode, you can get rather impressive results. Some on here have pushed above 30 mpg. I have managed 29 point somethingorother a couple of times.

My cummute 1s all of 2 miles, I'm lucky if the motor warms up by the time I hit either driveway.......wanna take the long way....but I may never get there! ( I'd just keep driving the stinger.........I have the same problem on my bike!lol

I would never drive my car if my work was that close. And even if I did, I'd let it warm up before shutting it down. Short hops, frequent starts and stops on a cold engine, are hell to pay later in wear and tear.
