Is there a piggy back that can fool the ECU to increase top speed or do we have to wait for a tune? Reason why I'm asking is I bought one with All seasons on it as the dealer only had 2 both equipped with them in December. There was no disclaimer at that time and later we found out that the car is limited at 140 mph. Now I have noticed a disclaimer on Kia Site stating 130mph limit. I wont let them flash mine. Tires on mine are rated at 149 mph so this 130 is bunch of BS! Just Curious what my options are besides ditching the car for a 2019..

Why won't you let them flash yours?

Cause they will take me from 140 to 130. I Bought mine when they first hit the floor in my area. Same week

While i agree in principle 100%...in reality, do you really operate the car all that often in the 130-140 range?

I would love to see some aftermarket software that can access the ECU for coding, tuning, flashing, etc to mitigate these "issues" :)

If they can flash it down to 130, dont see why they couldnt flash it up to 160. Best of luck.

Well that's shit
Yah think!!! Little pissed off myself. Live and learn. However I would buy another AWD in a second, with one exception. 19 inch tires. The torque vectoring is worth every penny! The handling on the car is far superior to my expectations. I've never driven a car with traction like that especially with the power it has. Imagine taking a 15 mph curve @ 45mph then punching the throttle 3/4s of the way threw the turn, never losing traction or tires making a sound. What a rush of adrenaline. From that moment on I knew the additional $$ for the AWD was worth every penny.

I hear you!! Imagine doing that with 545 wheel HP!!
I had a 2010 Nissan GT-R prepped for track use (road course). Not even at the apex of the turn and I would have the accelerator to the floor!! The car would just squat and go!! Unlike my Corvette Z06, constantly feathering the throttle post apex trying to prevent the rear tires from breaking loose! On the same track, the GT-R would eat the 'Vette for breakfast and spit it out for lunch!! Quite a feeling!!
My Stinger AWD Limited arrives in 10 days! Can't wait!!

That GT-R was and is a true go-cart of it's time, that's for sure.. Closest thing we will see of the Skyline. man that would be awesome with that much more power.. Your going to love the handling on the AWD. Congrats on your new Stinger!!

Join the club dude ALOT of us got screwed royally including me same situation not informed by the salesman no disclaimer till after KIA got 100's of complaints from us. I am battling KIA right now to fix it I probly wont win but I'm not going down without a fight. The ONLY solution will be from LAP3 they will be selling an ECU for us to swap over to, another words take your factory out and run there ECU it will disable that speed limiter and may other things and will give us a lot of control over more stuff it will be out sometime this year and will cost between 1000-1200 well worth every penny if you ask me to set my INGER free to be the STINGER it was bread and built to be. I have been in close contact with Dave at LAP3 and keeping up to date with the ECU progress they are in the fine tuning stage of production I am not talking about the LAP3 chip or Dave at K5 that's a different Dave so don't get them confused as many do. need anymore info just PM me!! remember you unlock the cars full potential you will need properly speed rated tires you cannot and I stress cannot do 167+ with the all season tires we have .... u will die. funny not funny. Also watch out bringing this subject up on this group its a VERY touchy subject be ready to be bashed, criticized, belittled, trolled and any other word that falls into this category I have warned you !! lol I took a risk even replying to you in fear of starting a all out war again. I just want you to be informed on how this limp dick mode as I call it can be resolved.

TORK is reprogramming a test car now. Looks like they are seeing good results.

Hi All, How did Tork actually remove the speed limiter?

Thanks

Some people have done it.
A guy went up to 326km/h (202mph)

You can flash the car but then your warranty is voided, the only other way is to setup a smart piggyback like the JB4 to intercept and alter the speed signal back to the ECU. So the vehicle thinks it's going say 130mph when it's actually going much faster. We've done it before on other platforms but requires a lot of development to ensure the stability control and braking modules are not using the same signal, and likely would involve having to cut/splice a wire or two on platform, which is easier to hide than a flash tune but still not fully reversible.

Well when someone figures out how to fix this problem please share because I hate hitting the speed governor and on my car it's 135 not even 140 smh

Terry,thanks.

Not worth voiding warranty unless totally reversible.

Car this is awersome.

The car I test drove I had up to 155 then when I got my actual car finally it quits at 135. SUPER frustrating! I will be getting a spare ecu with a mild tune and the limiter gone.
