Dont know if this has been posted but 3400 lb Stinger race car.

It was just a matter of time. Probably happening all over the planet. Despite Kia insisting this is not a "track car". Well, no street car was made to BE a track car. That's what stock car racing is all about: racing with anything that moves. I have a friend who is killer at racing riding lawn mowers.Dont know if this has been posted but 3400 lb Stinger race car.
I don’t know. It’s an awfully big car. Would take tons of development work to make it competitive in most series. Suspect smaller G70 will race in some seres. A 3400 lb race car is a bit heavy. I follow most of series globally and haven’t seen Stingers showing up yet. Tough car to develop. Not only isn’t it a track car but it has some strikes against it . Heavy, standard automatic transmission, lack of race teams willing to take it on as a car to race in series. Don’t think we will see many as Stinger isn’t really a viable car unless somone with money steps in and sponsors a team with some big cash. Smaller KIAs do well in touring car series. But don’t see a real place for this awkward turtle .It was just a matter of time. Probably happening all over the planet. Despite Kia insisting this is not a "track car". Yes anything can be done. I have built race cars out of cars people would not expect but most had real potential. Doubtful for Stinger. How many Chevy SS or Chrysler 300 SRTs do we see in road circuit races? No driver or a team wants to drive a car that puts them at disadvantage unless they are getting paid well. You're correct, of course, about the challenges, size, weight and all that. But it can be done. Some people, like the great Stirling Moss, just love a challenge/handicap. What would be really fun(ny) is if the Stinger received its own class, just because it piqued enough interest aesthetically.
Makes a good looking race car......

Nissan, Porsche, Chevy, Ford all make race car versions of some of their popular street cars for race teams to use as a base. Don’t think we will see Kia making a Stinger race car any time soon.
However still fun to see small shop in Korea having fun!
Lots of cars that aren’t track cars are tested on the ring. Part of Ring runs by big manufacturers is big open circuit to test a bunch of different scenarios - lots of cars that have been tested on Ring haven’t seen light of day on race circuits including SUVs. Also partially marketing to say car was developed in Germany on the Ring. Grand touring in world of sedans doesn’t conjur Track car to me. It means big comfy sport sedan to go touring on long road trip. Stinger sort of comes up short on that front too. It’s a car that has a hard time figuring out what it is. Not quite a track car. ...not quite a true GT Sedan. But "track car", Kia said no. Of course, they were waving their hand at the idea the Stinger was created with the track (at least partially) in mind. Yet they tested the performance at the Ring, which of course is the greatest track in the world. So of course everyone is going to be thinking, "I think that Kia protests too much". It is a gran turismo. But "GT" automatically puts "race track" in everyone's mind.
Hey, yeah. "Awkward turtle"! Really now!Hey, watch your language.
If by "true GT Sedan" you mean pay c. $70K+ then I agree; it's not.Lots of cars that aren’t track cars are tested on the ring. Certainly basics of car are decent. Multi link rear, beefy transmission and rear end with LSD (Limited Slip Differential), stellar 365 hp but boring motor. Front end of car is weaker with cheap strut front end verses nicer double wishbone of g80 that is built on same platform.
More like a Cheetah....Hey, yeah. "Awkward turtle"! Really now!
