I wonder how they'll position this one ? Based on all the tech and lux maybe they'll give it an E badge too ..............................

Sorento not big enough? This is where the Telluride comes into play.

The next-generation Forte is Kia’s big debut at the ongoing NAIAS in Detroit, but the company’s president and chief designer, Peter Schreyer, was eager to share some interesting news about an entirely different model. First shown a couple of years ago at the same show, the Telluride fullsize SUV has been given the proverbial green light and that means the large-and-in-charge concept will morph into a road-going model. When will it happen? It’s too soon to say.

When asked about the prospects of a production-ready version, Schreyer said “Yeah, we are working on that car, actually.” The important announcement was made in a discussion with the Australian media gathered in Detroit during which the company specified the model in question won’t be sold all over the world. Kia Motors Europe chief designer Gregory Guillaume mentioned the Telluride “doesn’t make much sense” in Europe where the company argues the Sorento is enough to satisfy the demand for big SUVs.

Somehow I feel like the KIA badge looks fine on the Telluride... But yeah - I like this SUV. It's not going to be Escalade-sized but big enough to spread out with three rows. As a side note, there's a new version of this forum software that we're using and I'm looking for an excuse to experiment with it (which is always wise before upgrading). I wonder if I should do a Telluride forum...

I may be biased ( because I'm very interested in the Telluride ) , sure why not

I have been thoroughly happy with my '16 Sorento SX , and am hoping that they'll have either a true Sport or GT version with improved driving dynamics when I move forward , but this new SUV looks to have all the goodies so it's on my radar big time now

Yes, you should start a Telluride forum. As much as I love the Stinger, I just haven't been able to commit to buying one yet. Part of it is the cargo capacity (I haul a lot of work gear), and part of it is the brutal west Michigan winters. I hit a pothole yesterday deep enough to swallow a Mini Cooper. My Touareg was unscathed, but I can't help but think I would have done some serious damage had I been driving a Stinger GT. And here in SUV/pickup truck world, just seeing traffic lights in something as low as a Stinger can be a challenge. The Telluride, especially if it uses the Stinger's Genesis platform, definitely has my attention.

We have a 2017 Sorento SX V6. We LOVE it.

I agree , i just wish it was more fun in the twisties , coming from X5 , X6 , I am totally happy with features and creature comfort , just want a bit more flatness in corners ! But I'm done with paying $25K extra for that !!

I'm looking forward to the telluride. If the current sorento can scale Utah trails w/ just a change in tires. I'm fairly certain this will redefine what this segment is capable of. I'm thinking a hint of early range rover auora / luxury/ elegance/ capability. Updated tech and safety/ 3rd row practicality, with KIA reliability and value.

Okay, one more vote for a Telluride forum... I'm seriously considering it... I'd still love to hear a "yes" from a few more people because there's nothing that makes me more uncomfortable than an empty forum. :p

I don't mind getting a head start. Plus, I think we'll need "moderators" for that one! My spending most of my time here would require that forum to be run by YOU GUYS. :p And girls, maybe. :)

And here you are, sir:

Kia Telluride Forum

I've been testing the latest version of the software we're using here. It's kind of a big change so I want to make sure people can gradually, smoothly get used to the differences. In the meantime, while you're at it, you can always do a little conversing about the Telluride while getting comfortable...
