Stinger in Southern California Showroom

[Scorpio Redux]

A "Pre-Production Stinger GT was on display at my local Kia Dealership today. It was a dark, barely metallic blue with a black interior. It did not look quite ready for the U.S., judging by the wide-set rear license plate fixings and full "Stinger" script high on the back of the hatch. The sales people had no further information but it was sure great to see one 'in the flesh'.

This Stinger is still (as of 17September2017) on display at Palm Springs Kia (actually located in nearby Cathedral City, CA).

Thanks! Just a little too far from where I am, but it's nice to know you had a better experience than I did when I saw one at a dealer. Still, I saw enough to know that it's worth the wait!

When it arrives at my dealership I hope to talk my buddy the VP to let me sit in it even if it is after hours. One of the main things preventing me from being sure about a purchase is whether or not I can pull my old bones in and out of the car without making those old man getting out of the recliner sounds. The fine print at the bottom of the dealer brochure above says the cars are Korean spec and are not to be driven and must be kept locked at all times.

As further evidence of the home market specification of this display car, I was told that the front turn signals are white, not the amber that would be required for the U.S.

I actually live in the Coachella Valley, may need to make a trip to Cathedral City to see if this Stinger is still around. I would like to take a look myself!

Anyone in in the Philly/Allentown area planning on making the trip to Gateway Kia to check out the black Stinger in their showroom? Would love to see some pictures of that one!

Anyone near Anaheim, CA: the Orange Cty. Int'l. Auto Show is at the Convention Center from Sept. 28th to Oct. 1st. I'm guessing the Stinger should be there. (If it's not, then they really don't want to sell them!) Unfortunately, they aren't doing test drives for it, nor for the Regal GS--or anything else I want to try out.

I know where I'll be going today!

I called to check--this car is Korean spec, as I already suspected from the E badge on the steering wheel (but KIA on the hood), but I made an appointment for this afternoon, having been told that they will be able to let me see into the trunk, etc. Of course, I was told this by the woman who at first said , "The what?" when I asked about the Stinger on display. But she talked to her manager, and came back with a little info.

The dealer may be taking orders. I'll get back this evening . . .

Just saw the red Korean one at a dealership in Texas. It's the one that will be at the State Fair of Texas.

The dealership was awesome and let me sit in it! Super comfortable with amazing quality, set my mind 100% on buying one.

They aren't taking pre-orders yet but took my info and what kind of payments and color I was looking for. They let me know as soon as they knew more they would let me know.

Cool. What dealer?! Classic Kia in Carrollton says they will have one tomorrow.... same as everyone else, Korean spec likely ahead of state fair auto show.

I'm back from Kia of Alhambra. Yes, the car's gorgeous, but we all already know that, right?

This dealer was much more cooperative than the last one I visited, and I was able to play with the seat and steering wheel adjustments. I was able to adjust the seat to a comfortable driving position, and that left 3 or 4 inches of kneeroom for me in the rear seat. (For reference, I'm about 5'9".)

I took rough measurements of the trunk for those who were wondering on another thread, which I will never find again, so I'll put them here. 40 inches long; about 36 inches wide at the wheel wells; about maybe 33 inches wide right behind the seat. Sorry for the imprecision, but I couldn't reach that back area easily and didn't put down the rear seat.

They aren't taking pre-orders yet, but just taking info to call customers either when they do or when they have a demonstrator.

You have the video above, so I've only included one picture, the rear view from the driver's perspective, for those of you who expressed an interest in the rear visibility. It really is limited. Huge blind spots on the rear corners, but hey, that's how they convince us all to get 360º cameras, blind spot warning, and lane change assist, right?

Yeah, that back window. It's small! But like you said, 360 degree camera.
