Why am I hitting similar numbers with different maps?

I recently installed a JB4 tuner and HKS plugs on my stinger (nothing else) and was curious why I’m hitting similar boost numbers on map 3 w/ 93 as I am on map 4 w/ e30 mix (4 gal e85, rest 93). M3 peak is 18.5, m4 is 18.7. Iirc, m0 was like 12 and m2 was around 16

Also apparently some people are hitting the same numbers using only map 2 with intake and 93. As well as higher numbers with JB4 disabled than I am. I don’t think just an intake would add that much, but I may be wrong

Attached are some logs I did with m3 and m4, I renamed them before I knew that caused issues viewing them online, so I changed it back to the name of another log just with a different map #. I don't have any logs of m0 or m2, as I accidentally deleted them (oops), but I can get some tomorrow omw to work

Just for the record, I have absolutely ZERO clue what I'm looking at, as I have yet to find a good guide on everything to look at in the logs outside of IGN 2-6 should be about 3, avg ign should stay about the same. Other than that I dont really have much of a clue

18 GT2, JB4 w/ fuel wires, HKS Plugs

How long were you running e30 on Map 4 coming off Map 3 before you pulled this log? It looks to me like JB4 is still adapting to the shift in extra octane headroom and is trying to find the right balance of timing per cylinder to optimize the target boost and afr. Map 4's log has a bunch of long term timing corrections that look like they're still trying to find their happy place because JB4 is still not satisfied with the results it's seeing. It's got plenty of fuel based on the AFR's, it just isn't optimizing the timing yet; still tweaking things over time.

JB4 on it's own takes a bit to optimize a map switch, it's not an instant process. You may have noticed this for a few days of driving when you first installed. The same process is happening now that you switched maps. This is where a BEF makes a significant difference over just a piggy back like JB4. The BEF give the ecu blueprints for optimal running parameters for a certain octane and boost target. That way, the car can basically adapt to what you want faster since it's 'been to school' and learned the correct process of operating. JB4 on it's own intercepts signals from the car and feeds the ecu modified data based on what you're targeting for fuel and boost (aka map switches). Think of it like a translator. It needs time to spit out the translation so the car can react accordingly. When you pair the two together, it makes optimizing for octane and boost that much faster of a process.

All of that said, if you're still not getting the results you're expecting after a few days, it might be time to check your ignition coils and plugs. Knowing how much gap and mileage on the plugs as well as age of the coils will all help dial in on what's going on.
