Plastic piece inside intake

Hey guys attached are some pictures that I am trying to figure out what that plastic part and if it’s needed with the holes drilled out in my passenger side OEM intake tube. I am in the process of installing the factory air boxes and noticed that while looking at the tubes. Only the passenger side has it not the driver and it’s on the end where it bolts to the turbo.

I'm almost positive it's to disrupt the air slightly to act as a baffle. Quite common in GM/Holden air intakes with turbos to quieten down the induction noise.
