That's exactly what I did. I tapped the OEM sub wires for signal, used an AudioControl LC2i to convert them to line level, and used a JL amp and bass knob (as well as some tuning on the LC2i) to power the sub!
wait did you tap into the wires before or after the amp though? I couldn't figure out where the input wires were on the wiring diagram, just the outputs.
Recently bought a Stinger GT2 with Harmon Kardon audio system. It sounds great but lower bass is lacking in my opinion, so I decided to try and fix it. My last car was a 08 G35 with the Bose studio on wheels or whatever they wanted to call it. You can say what you will on Bose, but it had 10"s...

this is the best thread for a subwoofer install in the GT1 and GT2.

I tapped after the amp. That's why I used the LC2i as it can easily handle the input power. The input on the OEM amp is SPDIF. There aren't any analog inputs that I'm aware of.

got my subwoofer installed. My big mistake was somehow reading the diagram wrong and connected to the surround sound speakers. Once I got that fixed it worked perfectly. Big shout out to boss. That sub was only $45 and I’ve never had one so clean and intense. Boss 750/1400w 12” subwoofer, premade ported box, planet audio mono amp bridged for 750w, and a Gravity active LOC. Altogether around $250 with all the wiring and stuff. Wanted to keep the spare so I box-mounted everything for easy removal. Everything has vibration deadening under the mount points. The whole box is velcroed onto the trunk mat.
I have been considering the 12” low profile sub below. It is sturdy but still had one active and one passive 12” sub in it. I think I would need to add another dedicated sub amp though? It is a 500 watt 2 ohm sub.
Sorry to resurrect this thread but it seems everyone's connectors have red and blue plugs and the amps slightly different. I've got one with yellow and green plugs. Note this is a GT-line 2018 and has the 9 speakers.
Edit: most of my post was lost.
I'm wanting to tap into my factory subwoofers to run an active/powered subwoofer. Looking online it seems my plugs are the same as a GT, and I need to tap into the red, blue, brown and white wires...
Could anyone please help me and identify what colours are positive and which are negative and which are paired?
Picture of my harness attached, would appreciate any help
The attached crutchfield install guide has the wiring breakdown. I believe you have the same base 9 speaker system I have, which is what this guide is for. [note that I have not personally verified this guide to be correct, as I only swapped speakers in my GT]

Thanks so much for that, extremely helpful! Strange that for right under seats sub they would use blue as positive and red as negative haha... Found a video that had it the other way round - I'm from NZ so is crutchfeild usually pretty reliable?
