This piece fell down after driving through a puddle.Does anyone know the part? Also, how do I remove it. The clips are undone but there are some type of screws.B7CA836D-B0B1-48E6-A44C-DF767F0E12BC.webp79C9975D-EA45-44F7-A9CB-08028E93EC66.webp961F7A22-1D93-47C8-96EC-4CB89922F44F.webp

There are 6 10mm bolts that hold it in place along with several push in clips, gotta get under there to get them out. If you find a replacement for less than 300.00 grab it as they are getting hard to find.

your front undercarriage panel is ripped; probably happened going through that 'puddle.' but it fell because the front clips failed, and they probably failed because Ima guessing the panel was put on improperly, it's supposed to be above the bumper cover, not clipped to the bottom of it.

That would be a good Stinger owner public service announcement, to check for correct installation.

That has to be unbelievably annoying to drive with even for 100 feet let alone miles, then have to fork over whatever it costs to replace. Not to mention all the garbage that gets up in the engine bay in the mean time.

Happened to me. Not sure how it got loose but now I check the undercarriage whenever there is work done. Mine was donzo, so I got a replacement at the dealership (Hurst, TX). Cost aa little over $400 to replace. Expensive lesson as the dealership would not replace as I could not prove it was not my fault. Oh well.

$400! inflation? I checked the underside of my premium very carefully, knowing already how that forward panel gets attached wrong too often. mine was good to go.

Happened around Sept/Oct of last year. Had a hard time finding one on my own so needed to go through the dealership and had them install. Took them about a week and a half to get one. Like Rodtheviking said, if you can find it for $300 snatch it up. Sure you can get the clips fairly cheap but yeah, turns out spirited driving is hitting the wallet a little more than I planned.

I've gone through two of them with dealer replacement at $500 and then $570. How important are they?

That’s my question too. I know they help, but how much?

They keep out all the road grime dust and weather out of the engine bay at a minimum. I’m shocked how little I’ve had to clean my engine bay. Just easy wipe downs with quick detailer and no signs of road salt.

The 2018 Stinger rides low to the ground. I live in Houston which has lots of objects on highways that you don't/can't always see. I've been through 3 deflectors now. Wondering if I should simply leave the engine exposed and have the underside cleaned every now and then. Most Kia parts places online have the same grift: huge discount, then once you enter all your info to get to the final payment, they have outrageous shipping (and taxation) fees.

2018 is not special in this regard. Same ride height across all years.

Highjacking this thread as this just happened to me. Was driving home from the airport and all of the sudden my car began making a very very loud scraping sound. Looks like my clips failed and the entire liner is torn to shreds getting it home. Dealership costs $408 with clips and bolts, the piece itself was $369.

Not paying that price right now, ganna see if I can find an aftermarket cheaper one if not then I’ll bit the bullet.

For now I’ve duck taped the living crap out of it in hopes it holds until I find a replacement. Went through an entire roll of duct tape sealing it and supporting it. I’m sure one hard bump will knock the duct tape right off tho. Hopefully I’ll find a cheaper aftermarket

Good luck with that one. The OEM undercarriage panels are as cheap as they come. They just cost a lot. Hah. They are sturdy enough as long as they don't come loose. That's not the panel's fault. It's the clips. Just make sure that they are snapped solidly into place. It's really easy to mistake them being all the way in when the center hasn't actually penetrated fully into the outer piece. To assure full connection, remove the center piece, push the outer piece all the way in, then push the center piece until it is flush. You'll also feel/hear it click.

When that undercarriage panel fails, it is most often because some of the clips were missing or not installed properly, or the panel was previously damaged from hitting something. Otherwise, there is little reason why it would all-of-a-sudden just go flying loose.

This is yet another reason I do my own wrenching. Good opportunity to inspect at every oil change, since that panel has to come off. Between our 3 Stingers/G70, I've already had to change out probably close to 10 clips. Sometimes the clips break off a leg, sometimes the holes the clips go in get a little overworked like a veteran at a bordello and fit a little, uh... loose. Best thing to do is to get one of those multi-pack body panel plastic clips with a wide assortment of styles and sizes. That way, you can change out on-the-spot any that are missing or questionable.

Plus, there is only ONE right way that panel goes back on. If you are not careful, you could insert one or more of the attachment tabs the wrong way.

The grease monkeys at Jiffy Lube or the dealer service aren't always gonna take the time to put it back properly. Just about every single vehicle these days have an under tray. These guys get paid by the hour and they see 50 different cars a day. They don't always pay attention when reinstalling those trays. As long as nothing happens when you roll off the lot, they couldn't care less.

On the stinger, isn't there only 1 single plastic push rivet to remove during an oil change? (The one the give access to the oil filter)

The rear cover is held on with 6 x m10 bolts, and no plastic clips. So if it's only an oil change, should be super easy.

Ah, you're correct. The point I was trying to make is that to remove the rear panel and do the oil change, you need to crawl right under the front one. So, even if removal of the front panel is not necessary, you get to inspect it and correct any problems when it is still easily fixable, before it gets FUBAR'ed.

Kia (& all manufacturers) should included a tool-less access to the drain plug...
Wouldn't that be nice!
