2.5T Intake?

Been searching around for a 2.5T intake and it doesn’t appear anyone makes one yet. I reached out to Injen for R&D and they are looking for local California 2.5T owners to participate in R&D. Unfortunately I am on the east coast so I don’t meet their requirements for testing with them.

Looking at the old 2.0T intake it appears similar to the factory 2.5T intake. However, it looks like there are different connections on the new engine vs the old engine.

If anyone knows of a company with a 2.5 intake that would be great. I thought about removing the stock airbox and installing a filter on the end of the OEM intake duct but the engine would then just suck in hot air from the engine bay. I know most aftermarket systems aren’t true “cold air” systems, but any sort of modified air box is better than nothing at all.

Why though? As in, it doesn't make more power, the ECU controls the engine to make sure of this. On a turbo car, there are so many restrictions and tubing bends that it's not doing anything, it's the fact that the air is pressurized which makes a difference, as in, if you can have more pressure, or cooler temps (which don't come from an intake, they come from an intercooler), then you can cram more fuel in there...but you have to be telling the car to cram more fuel in there. The general way for this is usually downpipe, tune, followed by turbo-back exhaust if you want to take it further, followed by injectors and fuel system stuff, followed by bigger turbo and intake. As in, unless you are going to be sucking a whole lot more air, not just a little more, an intake is not required.

99.9% of the time, the intakes with no other mods are just making more noise because they bypass the internal silencing of OEM intakes, which makes the person think they are getting more power.

Have you tried SXTH Element Engineering? That's generally one of the best hopes for our cars...And other Smartstream 2.5 applications?

I wouldn't mind a more throaty exhaust. But can't really bring myself to go through the efforts on a 4 cyl. I have vague memories of what the thing on the left sounded like - that too was a 4 cyl (1 liter).

I’ve raced a lot and as far as exhaust, you can pretty much get any sound you want, it’s just a matter of exhaust design. We race a 4cyl cayman s that sounds absolutely stunning, it’s equal to a hellcat v8. I know of many other examples and it’s just not dependent on cylinders. I’ve had my own examples over the years. Of course, the real question is if someone has actually engineered it or made it.

My bike did sound great too, but between wind noise and exhaust, I had to ride with ear plugs or else.

Yeal no intake out there I'm running a filter on a 90" with heat shield just installed monitoring air intake temperature to see how this works considering the 2.5T has a liquid cooled intercooler. definitely less restrictive than the stock filter.

That would be a first, because it's largely just snake-oil. Turbo setups have to route air through the tiny restrictions in the intercooler, do people really think running a different intake helps? The "work" is all being done by the turbo. What helps with turbo spool-up is less restricted exhaust and insulating the exhaust headers to the turbo. The people and companies that post "dyno gains" for intakes are showing numbers that cars generally vary from run to run...with no intake or other setup differences. In other words, they aren't so stable that they show 405hp every time, it might be 415 or 400 or whatever. If it were that easy to increase efficiency and power, they would have done it at the factory.

With a turbo engine that runs a traditional BOV (most run recirc valves now), going to an aftermarket short intake will give you some good turbo noise, generally the "psshh" blowoff and more engine noise coming through. Most factory stuff is pretty well silenced to eliminate all of this.

Not my pic. I want this so bad. It's afe's research and development Cai for the 2.5 stinger! It uses the front true cold air intake , would pair great with snorkels from velossa tech . I would seal the top off though if I had it maybe they will before releasing

I ordered air snorkels for the car too. I'm going to put two on even though it only needs one just for aesthetics. The second one will move more air into the engine bay for cooling
