I’ve noticed my car shifts a little hard the first two upshifts, not consistently but when I first start it and begin driving it will happen once, it’s fine after that though. Is this something I should have looked at or worry about or no?

Ask the dealer to do an adaptive reset of transmission. I had some odd downshift behaviours and this resolved it for me.

I was able to do transmission adaptive values reset with Xtool A30D Bi-directional scanner. It only cost $159 from Amazon and currently has 20% off.

I just ordered it. $137 out the door (including tax).

I don't know about the worry part. There are plenty of people who know more about such issues. Are you warming up the car enough? Do you live in an extreme weather climate? But, then again, it could be more serious. The question is interesting because it only happens when you first use the car.

It’s funny because since I’ve posted this it hasn’t happened at all haha

Probably needs tcu tune haha jk.

Thought there was a way to reset the adaptive settings via moving thr shifter around?

there is but it is a royal pain to do correctly. I'm the one that posted the procedure ages ago. Get the dongle and do the reset that way. Big difference.

Where in the app did you do it? I have the scanner and haven't found that option.

You need to download the special functions, one of them should be called GEARBOX MATCH and have an option to reset adaptive value. I was skeptical of this working, but it honestly got rid of the jerkiness when coming to a stop. To the point that I need to relearn how to come to a stop since you don't get the transmission braking for you haha.

Thanks! Found it...I had it on there but didn't think to look under that one, I was looking under GEAR LEARNING.

Thanks again!

yes, the xtool A30D is what I bought and used to do the reset. Can confirm that yes it did work. Remember, it's gearbox match, not gear learning in their vocabulary.

I can also confirm it works. On the main page of the app....Services....Gearbox Match....KIA....and then there will be an option to reset the transmission adaptive.

What's wrong with having the car downshift when slowing down to a stop? Doing so saves gas, increases stopping power and will have the vehicle in a lower gear ready for acceleration.

Mine does it and it's very smooth when in comfort mode.
Perhaps the downshifts are harder on sports mode?

I have been suffering with the jerkiness too so already ordered. Curious how often the reset adaptives needs to be performed. Does the jerkiness return with a week, month, year?

Did you also get early shifts? Unless I let my car warm up to 200 my first couple shifts will either be jerky or way early.
