Why should Downpipe be primary and secondary?

I have the doubt if it is necessary to buy primary and secondary downpipes, could I not just buy the primary ones and from there place custom pipes all the way back?

Of course. Secondary pipes are for folks that want a bolt-on, or just replacing that section.

Thank you very much for the answer, I was sure that it could be done that way, but other people who have bought primary and secondary units insisted that it should be that way and not how I will do it

Yup. Though I do like the option of being able to just swap out the secondaries, seen lots of horror stories on this forum of snapped turbo studs.
