Team, Finally got around to getting the Racing seats installed. Big shout out to Braum for a partial sponsorship for the project.

I was looking for something that would work really well on the track, but be livable from a daily drive perspective. They are definitely aggressive, but as little driving as I do, I think they will be fine. Went with Braum 5 point harnesses as well. Really nice.

I also used the Planted Technology seat mounting brackets, as well as the side brackets that actually mount the seat to the bracket. Although after the mods I did to raise the seat height, the Braum side brackets would have been fine. I was looking for height, so the additional adjustability of the planted brackets seemed necessary at the time.

The Falcon S, fixed back buckets I got look great in the car, and the red stitching really blends in with the red interior.

The seats literally don't move a bit. Very solid, even with the aluminum risers I fabricated to get the seat height right.

The harnesses all mount to factory seatbelt locations, with the use of the various brackets and clips Braum sells. Happy to answer questions either on this thread or via PM.

If you track the car, this is an amazing mod!!!

I have to wonder, "why with a Stinger?" But any car can be a dragster. :D

Very nice. Has to save a lot of weight too, right?
Cage next? :sneaky:

Yes, a question I asked myself for the last 6 months. LOL. Mainly because it's the car I have. Also because it's fast and does reasonably well at the track with great tires, brakes, power, etc.

In a perfect world I would have 2 cars. Stinger for daily and a Porsche Cayman S for the track. Unfortunately that's not in the cards financially speaking. Stinger is paid for too!!!

After dropping like 15k worth of mods into the Stinger, I swear I'm done now, LOL. With all the work and it only having 9k miles on it, I think I might have to keep it a long while.

I may settle for a Civic Type R or something and just keep the Stinger for many years.

Oh yes, I should have mentioned the weight savings. Dropped close to 120 lbs with both front seats out, and about 70 lbs with the rear seat out. New front seats, brackets, harnesses, etc. are in the 35 lbs each range so say 70 lbs for two packages. Net about 50 lbs weight off the front, so say 120 lbs total between front and rear. (falcon S seats weigh roughly 20 lbs each, but the brackets, harnesses and hardware add a bunch.)

saved 30 lbs on my wheels alone
would guess another 30 on the exhaust and intake. (mostly exhaust
no spare tire or tools and jack, etc. that's another 50 lbs saved.
added intercooler though

probably in the 3,700 lb range at the moment, (RWD not AWD)

Car is noticeably faster, louder, etc. With the seats and harnesses, you are no longer isolated from anything. Very connected now. The whole driving experience is amplified big time.

edit: no cage at the moment, but possibly full interior gut and cage coming!! (not really....but HMMMMMM)

Looks good, they are a nice set up & they fit well with the cars interior without being too boy racer…..

Oh, come on. You still can replace the battery for lithium one. That will shave over 40lbs and increase the bond!

LOL!!!!! yes.

Pretty soon the back half of the car will weigh 200 lbs, and from the B-Pillar forward it will be 3000 lbs. I'm sure the balance will be perfect on the track!

In all seriousness, I need a good rear wing, that actually works. The car gets very light on the front straight at VIR!

And that you can counterbalance with carbon hood and aluminum crash bar from g70. :lipsaresealed:

How's the visibility when turning your head?

Do they come in a cooled/heated option?

I believe most of the Braum seats have a heated kit that can be installed to add heat, but may not be on the fixed back racing seats. I don't believe cooling is an option for any of them. That would be nice though. Visibility is still fine, other than the harness itself restricting a lot of the normal motion you would normally have. For example leaning forward to see around something when turning, etc. It's definitely a little different. Most of their models come with a non-fixed back version, which can easily be used with the stock seatbelts.

Those look insane thanks for sharing!! Are the brackets you used adjustable for the height & moving forward/backward? I'm 5'1 and can imagine the pain of whoever has to drive it when taking it in for service lol

Ha, no these are not that adjustable. I had to do lots of tweaking to get them in a good position for me. I'm 6'1". Since these are the fixed buckets, they are just rock solid. So the brackets have a bit of wiggle room, but not much. You would likely need to do a bit of drilling on the bottom plate, then mount the side brackets as far forward as possible.

If you were going to do it, I would recommend getting any of the Braum models that are not fixed back. They have a ton of nice seats which can be mounted to sliders, and can also recline. You would definitely be able to raise up the bottom mounting plate, as I did, to get the height correct. I used aluminum tubing and longer bolts to get the base mounted a bit higher.

5 point harness is crazy. You are just locked in tight. After the next few track days, I may got back to stock for daily, unless I'm heading to track soon.

Oh, be careful on the shoulder width area if you upgrade too. 23 inches is the absolute max, and even at that, the shoulder area of the seat is in full contact with the b pillar. Since these are fixed buckets, no big deal, but if you were mounting sliding/reclining seats, go no wider than 22 inches in the shoulder area. 21" may be even better for short drivers as you will be mounting the seat up higher, where the B pillar starts to slope inward.

Heading to the track soon, can't wait!

So, they have adjustable seats - are they "one-time" adjustable, or adjustable like normal seats? How comfortable for daily driving?

How much work to attach / remove the 5-point belts and go back to normal?

The seats themselves are not adjustable at all. between the side brackets and the bottom plate, you can adjust for seat rake, with some side to side movement, like to mount the seat further inboard or outboard, and then some front to back adjustability. Once everything is bolted together, it's essentially one unit, with only 4 bolts mounting it to the car.

So it's a hassle to get it all figured out in the beginning, but once you do, you're done. I can have the seat back out and the stock seat back in maybe ten minutes max.

The 5 point harnesses are designed to mount in the factory seat belt mounting locations and are clipped to eyelets so you can have those out in 2 minutes. The front seat belts stay in place so once you unclip the harness, you are back to stock instantly.

the seats are pretty comfortable. I'm about to find out how they feel on a two hour road trip to the track, LOL.
