Limited top speed, why do you care?

What is the solution for this awd speed limiter problem?

First of all, it is a problem only if you have the limiter and it annoys you. An ECU tune is the only solution. GT 2 AWD NOT REALLY A STINGER!?!? Apparently if you lobotomize the actual speed limiter (from factory) you void your drivetrain warranty: I've heard nothing different since this thread.

Its not really a suggestion, its pretty much the only way to do it. Apparently the Lap3 Pro Tuner can do it as well but Idk much about that specific device to verify it or not. What I can tell you is that, my 18GT2 had a 130mph Limiter on it (Kia changed it from 140 to 130 at some point) with its stock ECU, and Now that I have a Lozic ECU, the 130mph limiter is def no longer there. I found out a few days ago when I tested it in my local "Mexico"

^^That will take some long straights and no interference. Hah.

Hit 146 before I entered my braking zone, But the car def wanted to keep going. I am also on my Opposite of mexico weather tires so I really didn't want to push it any higher than that.

Yeah, I've had the Nitto Motivo A/S UHP up to over 130. But it was the (still pretty new) PS4 that took me up to 155; and I was still pulling c. 1 MPH per second when I called it good.

Speed limiter delete I purchased from terry. Have yet to install but wanted just in case I wanted to remove the governor. Only $100 if you PayPal terry. My car came with the 18inch all season tires and I tapped out at 130mph pushing it.

no, they dont
I mean, enough people do to warrant BMS to make an override, and ALL the ECU tunes raise the limiters, so the reasoning is clearly there. saying they don't (especially to a 4 year old comment) is pretty ignorant.

Yes, a very small %. And around a track, you need straights/acceleration rates that will get you to those speeds, so even though the car may go 140mph in a straight line with a straight road, getting to 140mph on a track with curves and straights is another thing...

I mean from a dead stop, sure, it might be difficult, but considering a good portion of straights have a nice sweeping curve off them beforehand, you can sometimes be doing above 100 by the time you get out of a turn. Its not that difficult to reach 140-150 if your corner exit speeds are already decent. It might be difficult in your GT line specifically, but not so much in the 3.3TT.

I would expect you to know that though if you have tracked your Camaro before.

Honestly, I'd expect a GT1 or 2 to be flying over the fence if they were trying to get the exit speeds to exceed 140mph in the straights. Unless we are talking some absolutely GIANT straights...but back to my point...it's just a very small % of stinger owners that would be actually doing this.

I've had my Stinger out to Sears Point and Laguna Seca in the past year. Mind you, I'm a beginner at track stuff. I have a few mods (sways, Mando ECS, better pads/lines/fluid, jb4) and AWD (which helps with traction). With all that, I don't think I've gotten past 120 at all. Ok, on the long straight at Laguna, probably came close and chickened out a bit :) But still - wore through half my GLoc R12 pads (from 50% to 2%) in 5 sessions. The Stinger is HEAVY. And NOT a dedicated track car. It's probably similar to a 4-cyl Mustang/Camaro with track pack. I don't care - I'm just having fun and need a family car for most days.

If you're getting 140+ on a straight on a track, you're going to burn through pads/rotors trying to stop it, and probably overheat something. C&Ds lightning lap got up to ~133 mph AFAICT. And I would imagine their driver is better than most here.

Edit: just to clarify - first 50% of pads were 5 DAYS (20 or 25 sessions, forget which) at Sears Point (Sonoma). Laguna definitely gets faster AND wears through pads faster.

There's also Mile/Airport racing where this would be needed.

Also, your forgetting the real reason, People hate being restricted. You don't have to understand just let them have what they want.
