So I'm really considering pulling the trigger on a Stinger, I took one out for a test drive and the car is a blast. Here's my dilemma, the Stinger is advertised as having 23 cubic feet of storage space with the seats up which was a HUGE selling point for me. My current car has 13 cubic feet however when I parked the cars side-by-side and tried piling stuff from my current vehicle into the Stinger it became pretty clear that the Stinger has a smaller boot space. What the hell is going on here? How did they get the 23 cubic foot measurement?

Did you have the cover on or off? I stored my cover after I got the car home from the dealer. Think it would hold more without interfering with the rear view.

this is just me, but i'd trust the engineers over my eyes. pretty sure it includes the space up to the rear window.

I didn't just take a glance I physically tried to place the same objects from my trunk into the Stinger with little to no avail. I think the problem might be mostly with larger bulky items (I had brought 3 large items to test), I think the space is just an odd shape.

could be... i can fit 3 sets of golf clubs in there but the width is different than a normal trunk!

I seen people fit a lot of things in the back, here are a few pics.

Those are great photos, i just wish you had some with the rear seats still up to show what fits in that case.

The boot fits enough for me to not really care that it's slighty smaller than my old car. I did realize the other day that it's not quite as wide as it looks. It failed to fit my upright vacuum, but my old car could fit it fine. It can definitely stack a lot more than the boot of a sedan though.

if it helps, I've fit two full size luggage and one small roll away in the trunk without folding seats down while still able to sneak a basic stroller in there too...I eyeballed it too, with my g37 sedan and they looked the same. But I would've never fit that same amount of items in my G.

It's much shallower than my previous vehicle a 2006 Hyundai Sonata (my wife's 2017 Cerato sedan has a deeper boot/trunk which accommodates our oversized pram much better than my Stinger). The Sonata had cavernous boot/trunk space by comparison - mainly due to FWD vs RWD and battery location. I've been able to fit in a heap of cargo with the rear seats folded and cover removed though.

There is clearly something wrong with the measurements. In the UK the Stinger is advertised as having a boot capacity of 406 litres (which is a ridiculously small number, it's just a bit bigger than a Mazda 3 Fastback/Sedan which is almost 2 classes lower in terms of size). By comparison an Audi S5 is advertised here with a capacity of 480 litres. That suggests the Stinger has a much smaller boot. However, if you check the US figures the reverse is true: Stinger has a capacity of 23.3 cu. ft. (which is 660 litres) and the S5 has a capacity of 21.8 cu. ft. (which is only 617 litres). It's clear that the method of measuring boot capacity is different between the UK and the US, but both measurements should in theory say the same story.

Eyeballing it, you can for sure tell it is smaller, but I think they measure it up to the glass. I'm sure my Optima hybrid as more trunk space behind the seat, to get more in the Stinger you would have to remove the cover. I've looked at the A5 and 430 and their trunks are deeper. I went for the Stinger as it is larger overall for passengers and if I need to I can fold down the seats.

And since they don't agree, that means the measuring space is different. And the only variable is the hatch cover. You can't change the limit of a trunk lid. But you can measure the Stinger hatch with or without the cover.

My cover is in the house in the closet. Don't need it, looks better without it. IMO.

Hi all, sorry to revive an old thread. I'm considering buying a Stinger GT and I'm confused how big the trunk is. I currently have a 2011 c63 which has 475 liter trunk space. Stinger's looks bigger so I'm confused.

How big the trunk is without cover? thanks!

23.3 ft3 (660 liters) per all available data

Maybe not all available data - Kia Stinger hatchback - Practicality & boot space | Carbuyer claims 14.3 ft3 (406-litre boot)
