Just curious about the cost of replacing the Brembo brakes on my Stinger through a dealership vs a private garage in NY in the futue. How long do they usually last?

Can't answer that question. My '08 G8 has 192,000 miles on it and the factory brakes. While not Brembo, they are massive brakes and still within state inspection tolerances. So if you don't drive like an idiot, or drive resting your left foot on the brake pedal, you probably won't ever need to replace them.

What do you mean by replace, if your just talking about replacing pads and turning rotors at all 4 corners then you are probably looking at 4-6 hours by the book plus parts. I’d guess dealer shop rates are around $120 in NY so $500 plus parts.

Just as an FYI the dealer is almost always going to be more expensive for repairs than a private garage. However, there are situations where the dealer is the only option, if the repair requires a dealer specific tool that ships wouldn’t have.

Also as @mldavis2 said, you are unlikely to need to do any brake work for a few years unless you abuse the brakes.

I had almost 80,000 miles on my Optima before I had to replace the front brake pads. I expect these to last even longer.

just wait for the SGTandMe videos and do it yourself. Im sure it's piece of cake.

It will be a while as my other cars had went 7 years before brake pads. And it was only the front that were needed

I know the front pads cost around $400 and the rear is the same.

Dealer cost probably 400. I had a scion Xb back in the day and Toyota charged 400 total. 400 does seem high though.

I work for the dealership and I got thr price for oe pads.

They do seem like very high quality break pads. Be honest breaks in something I don't mess with. I would pay the dealer.

wow , Ferrari Brembos are the same price .....................crazy !

When your dealing with Bembo brake there pricey.

With performance rotors, do a little research on turning vs. replacing. Brembos, in general, are not "turned." The method used is called "centerless grinding" and is far superior to turning. Turning on a lathe leaves a spiral ring that will actually increase the brake pressure needed to slow the car ultimately hurting performance.

I would not and will never turn a performance rotor on a conventional lathe and few shops offer centerless grinding. In any event, unless the rotors are warped, damaged, or out of thickness spec, there is no need to do anything but replace the pads and bed them properly. If the rotors are out of spec, warped or damaged, just replace them.

I know from owning BMW's they would never turn a rotor always had to be replaced , luckily I only replaced a few front pads . These ceramic pads last must longer than conventional pads and are virtually dust free . look at most BMWs and their front wheels are caked in brake dust ..................

Which is also indication that BMW drivers never wash their own cars. They either leave them dirty or run them through an inadequate car wash.

If they are true Brembo calipers (not reman ones for KIa only), it is very easy. Jack up car, pull wheel, remove two pins and flat spring, pull pads out through top. Secondly, you can get the best pads out there(name brand) for well under $100, on E-Bay or Amazon. You will be amazed at how easy it is.

What are some good brand names for brake pads?

For general use, go ceramic for cleanliess and wear. I've used Autozone, since they have a limited lifetime warranty on the Duralast ones. Track use, semi-metallic all the way. I've used Wagner, and they have held up well on longer tracks and high speeds like Road America.
