Greetings All,

I currently have a 2016 q50 Infiniti red sport awd with about 78k miles on it. I originally purchased this car used with about 40k miles on it . Before considering this q50 l was split between the stinger gt and q50 red sport . I decided to go with the q50 rs since I found a steal for about $29,500. Long story short my car has been in and out of the shop more times than I can recall. It’s in the shop as I’m writing this. Common problems I ran into were the serpentine belt, squeaky breaks, heat soak, and crappy transmission. Parts are expensive and my time with this car has had some high points but more low points than high points. The only mods I had done to the car performance wise were a upgraded heat exchanger and Megan lower down pipes. Parts are taking forever to ship and I’m just fed up with Infiniti to be quite honest. The more I look into the stinger gt the more I like it . I have read a few concerns ppl have ran across and wanted to know the common problems you guys face . From my consensus you will need better brake pads, upgraded heat exchanger, ceramic coat to protect that thin paint, fluid leaks, shaky steering wheel when you get on it, wire harness problems , and the overall feel of the car after you had it for over 50,000k miles . The overall feel of the car feels old once it hits 50k miles. Not sure if these conceptions are true but would love to have someone shed some insight as I’m really considering some kia stinger gt options in my area right now. Also I know the maintenance on stingers can be a lot more cheaper as opposed to the q50. I’m ready to jump ship lol Bye bye q50 . I have my eyes set on a stinger gt 2020 awd for $34,995 with 8,022 miles on it .

I gues no to infinity and beyond lol. Welcome!

I posted this in your earlier thread which got deleted for some reason..

I think nissan went down hill after the g37. Owned a g37s for 8 years, ~40K miles. This was the 6mt version. I had no mechanical issues, brakes were fine. There was a power steering whine early on that had a tsb for a redesigned reservoir. Maintenance was a piece of cake.

8K miles seems awfully low for a 3 year old car. How does the owner explain the mileage?

Look at the carfax

I'd stay away.. Why did kia buy it back... Possible they fixed whatever the problem was, but... for $38K+ after taxes, I think you can do better.

Howdy. I have had zero problems with my GT1 in c. 45K miles (except for the TPMS which is currently comatose, for the last week or so: getting it looked at Tuesday when I go in for an oil change): so, if it is going to feel old at 50K, it's going to happen all at once. :D

The paint isn't thin, by the way: Paint is just ugh

Brakes are OE with plenty of life in them still. And my steering wheel is rock steady when I "get on it". So, in my opinion, most Stingers are like mine.

That’s refreshing to hear my guy . A big sigh of relief. Glad your car is still going strong and you are enjoying it. Any upgrades done to your car for specific things you personally don’t like performance wise ? @MarlintheMad

Playing devils advocate. What are some of the things you wish you could change if any performance wise with the stinger gt?
Myself? I have not done all the things yet but my list (not the best order) is something like this.
Improve sound because it's cheap relative to other things.
Bov Intakes Any exhaust mods
Change the looks to pull more individuality from your car.
Carbon fiber bits New trim peices or lights tint eat.
Improve handling to match or exceed the requirements of daily habits or track days.
Springs for less money replacing the whole strut for more but I feel the adaptive strut tune I keep hearing about may do the job.
Gain power for things that big hp let you do!
Bigger turbos if you've got the money. Ecu tune. Complete exhaust front back and middle.. new fuels or e85 or meth injection what have you..
Not that the car is slow but it can be much faster even with oem configuration.

That was alot but hey

Appreciate the input my guy. That’s one of the things I love about the stinger. A very easy modifiable car that you can get your best bang for your buck .

The only performance mod I have is Eibach sway bars. The drivetrain will remain bone stock, as it is more than enough for my wants.

The sway bars tempted me, because I do like to corner fast, and descriptions of the stock handling matched my experience: I wasn't disappointed in any way, but thought I'd enjoy a more "buttoned down" feel like the reports on the Eibach: first the rear bar, for a year and a half: then I put in the front bar and wow!, the steering consistent feedback (lack of incipient oversteer) was really noticeable. I've been very happy with the handling of my car and wouldn't change a thing.

Owner of GT here. Got it specifically instead of gt1 or gt2 because i didn't want a sunroof. But the biggest downside for me is you get a crappy speedometer monitor instead of bigger and color one on higher trims.

Steering can always enhance the dynamics of the car. That sounds like a good start up mod to have Bro .

Not that big of a deal for me. What are some other differences between the gt trims ?

You only get heated seats, and basic audio system.

Gt1 gets a true 'manual mode' whilst the gt2 gets a fancier shift lever but the transmission will revert to auto each stop

Female stinger here and love the crap out of mine. Base GT is enough for me, my only stipulations was V6 and AWD. Added a few mods with a couple more to go. Most fun car I’ve had in a while. Happy hunting!!
