Popular or unpopular opinion? 2022 Stinger is ugly.

I still can't get over those new big ugly exhaust tips and the redesign light bar for tail lights. I still hope they sell well so we can get a 2nd gen and hopefully they'll improve the design. Some of the changes in the interior I'm not a fan of either.
What don't you like in the interior? I've heard lots of people object to the exterior changes, but haven't really heard anything re. the interior. IMO, it's improvements across the board inside.

Also, to no one's surprise - this thread is full of <=2021 owners ragging on the refresh and 2022 owners defending it. Surely no bias there. Everyone wants to feel like they made the right buy. Personally, I started shopping right as word started coming out about the refresh. Waited for it, and even with a discount on remaining 2021's, went with the '22. The pros outweighed the cons in my opinion.

Personally I feel that the seat design on the 2022 gt2 is worse than 2018-2021. Imo, had the US just gotten the Korean car, minus the tips, then I would've been fine.

Yeah I really really wish we got the Korean seats. Shame!

Nothing major. There are some improvements in the interior like the new stitching pattern on the seats and the new rear view mirror except you lost the compass indicator, again not a big deal, but you shouldn't be losing features to gain something either. You lose the sunglass holder for some odd reason, another luxury feature that should have been kept. Biggest peeve though is that they upgraded the infotainment screen to the new 10.25" screen but didn't add wireless android auto.

As a 2019 GT Limited owner, I want to the Stinger to evolve and improve over time. I don't think any of us older owners want the Stinger to fail. In fact, it's the opposite because it means longevity for the model and another generation or two down the line. Unfortunately, some decisions made by Kia to mess around with the trims and add/remove features here and there have made this refresh in my mind a net loss rather than a net gain. There is a lot to like about the new MY2022 and if you're happy with it then it's all good. Always nice to have more people join the Stinger family.

Good points. The sunglasses thing is dumb. Can't they fit the tech anywhere else in the car?

With respect to the wireless AA - there's a few people who work for Kia that have said it's likely a software upgrade away, so I'm holding out hope for that!

Nobody showing at a Kia dealership to scope out the latest Stinger is going to be comparing them to previous (pre refresh) model years. Only a car enthusiast is going to do that; and I do mean someone who researches all the changes in the trims since the beginning: and unless they think the refresh is a "net gain" they will not by buying new anyway. So, the exhaust stubs, the rear light bar, the new wheels, the new KIA badge in front, etc., will not compare to anything previously for a potential buyer/lessee. And I don't think that anything on the refresh is visually a turnoff as part of the total package standing alone.

Went to the dealer today to see the new one in the flesh as I got a 2021 GT1 AWD back in January. I'm glad I didn't wait as the GT1 previous was the best value proposition in my opinion.

Not a fan of the way oversized exhaust tips and how you can see the pipes. I like the new KIA logo but the badge on the front looks thin and cheap. Like a sticker. I also like the older wheels. I do like the additional stitching on the dash and while the bigger screen works better I actually prefer the look of the triangular older 8 inch screen. Other than that it's a wash..

I wish there was an easy way to get the 2022 exhaust tips on my 2020 gt if I'm being honest. I wanna be a professional ricer... :D

In 2019 my GT1 made the most sense. Especially as Toyota was delaying the Supra constantly and when it finally got here fanboi tax let dealers charge out the a$$ for it. No thanks. Wasn't a huge fan of the pre F/L G70. If I were doing the same thing now, with how the GT1 is for 2022 I don't think I'd want it. I'd either try for a technically new '21 GT2, or take a harder look at the Supra, and probably end up in a new G70.

I prefer the older wheels and taillights on the old one (mine)
I like the 2.5t vs the 2.0t and I prefer the new infotainment.
Neutral on the tail pipes
Prefer the new badge.

I just bought mine last month but if I could trade my 21 GT-Line for a 22, I probably would just for the engine upgrade.

I just picked up a 21 GT line a few days ago and the dealer also had two AWD 22 GT lines on the lot. I personally like the wheels and rear end more on the 21 but I definitely would have liked the 2.5 liter even though the 2.0 is plenty for me in the city. They weren’t willing to negotiate at all on the 22 so I couldn’t pass up the deal on the 21.

I think the new facelift is fine , I don't love the wheels but the exhaust tips and rear lights look evolutionary , all in all the pre and post facelifts all look like Stingers and Stingers look Great !

I think the wheels look good, but they're very different from the first gen. They might have had a warmer reception if they were thematically similar. Any specs on the weight compared to previous?

They are thematically similar: if you start your inspection in that center "star", and move out through the slot at the end of a star point, the wheel turns into widely splayed "Y"s. :D

I had to look them up side-by-side. I see what you're getting at!

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble but bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth to support wireless AA. That's why all current wireless AA and Carplay go through wifi. Unless there's a hidden access point that I haven't found anywhere in a 1st gen Stinger yet, you'd need more than just a software update.

I had to throw a like just for the screen name. RIP Professor, still miss him deeply.

Yeah they really are! If they were real I wouldn’t mind them but when you drive behind the 22 stinger you can see the actual tiny tips through them clear as day which looks cheap
To be fair though, 90% of cars nowadays you can see the actual exhaust behind the tips. While Im not a fan of seeing Kias, its not like Kia is the only one. Its literally everywhere. So for those complaining, they better be complaining on other cars as well.

true but other companies are pulling it off without it looking like the advanced auto parts aisle 3 special

I like the increased number of diffuser fins on the back bumper, that is literally the only change that hasn't detracted from it's overall looks IMO

These new wheels look like somebody has been watching a little too much Naruto, they all look like shuriken

The only change that should have been made is the hood vents should have been made functional

No thanks, I don't want to clean out hood vent traps. No one that doesn't track the car would see a benefit from that.

I was behind a bimmer yesterday, looking at its exhaust, and realized that all chrome or chrome like tips look stupid: clamped on, or as a part of the fascia. They're all just falsies.
