3.3TT Mishimoto's Stinger GT Intercooler Kit R&D Thread

How do you increase the target on the JB4?
Well if you're using map6 or map7
you can increase the additive (=target) as much as you want.

How do you increase the target on the JB4?
Not that specifically, but what the effects of the larger diameter charge pipe might be in general. How to capitalize on it.

UPS did their best to ruin things. They beat the hell out of the cooler box and separated the two package deliveries by 4 days, but Mishimoto’s packing conscientiousness prevailed. Thanks for going the extra mile @Mishimoto D4F25C35-E12D-4E97-8AC1-AC48D0A4A1F6.jpeg0DEECF23-627B-41AD-A989-E2E78BA11751.jpeg54D9D97A-35F6-4FB7-A068-40A3A98C3DDA.jpeg3C67A5A6-C3DF-4E9B-A756-AC4A5FFF430D.jpeg

This is one solid chunk of metal.

My plumbing is already getting prepped for powder. They must have a fantastic mandrel bender. No galling at all inside. The casting inner surfaces are relatively smooth and free of flashing.

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to pop in here to let you know that we just received the inventory of our Blow-off Valve Adapters in the US and UK/EU! Those of you in these regions who ordered on presale should be receiving shipping confirmation very soon!

Also, we're still waiting on the next batch of intercooler kits, but they're actually slightly ahead of schedule. We're hoping to have an update for you guys in the next few days!

And just like that, we have more intercooler kits ready to ship! Our second batch of kits has been inventoried and we'll be processing these orders shortly!

Just as a quick refresher, make sure to keep your eye out for an email from us to update card info for those who ordered back in August. Since we can only hold CC info for a limited time, we just need to update it in our system before we can process the order. In order to keep things running smoothly, please only contact our customer service team AFTER you receive the email

I called Mishimoto a couple days ago. The guy on the phone told me Oct. 16th. Was this accurate and will the full preorder be filled?

Ok jonny tig owners. Here it is, it's a close fit but it's in there.
If if is that close I bet it will rub on some cars .
You may want to add a piece of rubber or something between to prevent the rub.

So here I am reading this thread, reading Mishimotos note about looking out for an email and what do I get, I GOT THE EMAIL!!!!!!

so after a day of stop and go and highway cruising. Also some WOT, i can say yeah those two pieces are never going to touch each other.

Our Intercooler weighs in at 26 pounds with the stock unit coming in at just under 10

Hi Mishimoto

I just received the intercooler and weighed it.

31 lbs core only.
32 lbs with the little brackets.

Your datasheet also says 26 lbs:

Same here. Already called them and confirm if the payment is correct. Now waiting for the shipping information.

Hopefully next week I can install.

Spent yesterday and this morning installing the cooler and a few other things I had to deal with.
The kit is very nice, especially for the initial 1.0 version.

I ran into very minor issues and some added procedures due to Injen intakes and Sxth Element catch cans.

One nice detail that I haven’t seen them advertise is the addition of steel thread certs everywhere the aluminum is tapped. Super nice feature that companies like Edelbrock and Magnuson overlook that can become a problem with only one disassembly.

I removed the Injen intakes first, the blowoff hose and filter must be completely removed before trying to wiggle the tube out. It just barely fits back in once the new charge pipe is in place.

I had to cut down the little air dams that screw onto the cooler, but that may be due to my carbon lower grill not snapping fully into place across the bottom.

I got everything coated as is my habit with just about anything I buy. Mishimoto’s coater only uses a chemical etch at best, no mechanical prep (blasting). Took about three minutes in the solution for the coating to come loose, the texture of the cast piece allowed the powder to hold on for another 3-4 minutes. Fortunately those pieces aren’t exposed to much abuse.
I wrapped the bottom portion of my charge pipe with tape before wiggling it into place. The frame horn, coolant line and fan shroud make it a tight fit. Lifting up firmly on the coolant line allowed it to get in place with out damaging the finish. When removing the OE charge pipe, and hot side pipe I removed the couplings completely.C289C004-A100-4E40-AA40-7B03ABB9BE94.jpeg

The charge pipe and coupling are touching a small unused mounting point. Might be best to shave it off (I did not). When I got everything in its final position it was barely touching, but will definitely work some material off the coupling over time.
The clearance also does not allow the hoses for my Sxth Element dual catch can to route how I had it. If you have one you might want to get a length of hose before starting in case what you have ends up coming short. Easily over come.
