3.3TT Mishimoto's Stinger GT Intercooler Kit R&D Thread

Mine comes tomorrow. I'll try to get some pictures for you guys. Anything you want to see specifically? I feel like the Mishimoto site already has all the pics in pretty good detail.

No, nothing specific. Would like to see the 27th fin from the right, 4th row from the bottom front side of the cooler.

Won't know for sure until you test fit but I have less than a fingers width between my intake tube and the charge pipe. You may be fine. I'll say a prayer for you.

With the motor movement, I would monitor if there is any touching over the next few days.

Since we know how it fits with the Injen,
I'll share a comparison of Injen vs JT on my car, with two pictures taken at a very similar angle.
It seems that the Injen piping is closer to the charge pipe around the top part, while JT is closer around the bottom part.
Hope that helps.

Ok, time to share some thoughts. I installed everything yesterday. I am a novice so I had to follow along with the Mishimoto install guide (video) very closely. I would say it took me 6-7 hours total minus the hiccup with the WMI bung which I will detail below.

First off the install video from Mishimoto is fantastic. I never felt lost or unsure of what to do. The packaging was fantastic. None of the parts were damaged except for a slight bend in the mounting bracket of the charge pipe which was easily fixed. The intercooler finish was perfect with no damage at all. All the parts seem high quality. The fit and finish was nearly perfect.

The install it self is pretty straight forward but time consuming, just a lot of steps. I like to take my time to ensure its done correctly the first time. I will say having another person to install the intercooler would be helpful. Its a bit awkward to handle and the fitment is VERY tight. If you are running Injen intakes the charge pipe will fit but its pretty freaking close.

Now for my only complaints. I made an assumption that the WMI bung on the charge pipe the would be pre-tapped for 1/8 NPT which seems to be the standard for injection nozzles. Well to my surprise it was not. You basically get a solid bung welded in and you will need to drill the hole and tap it your self. Lucky for me my Dad lives close and has a shop with all the tools. You will need a 11/32 sized hole (we started small and worked our way up) and a 1/8 NPT tap for the threads. It took us about an hour to drill and tap the hole which came out perfect. This leads me to my second complaint about the WMI bung. Its angled in a weird way. In the install video the bung opening is facing 9oclock on the charge pipe but on mine its facing more like 10:30ish no matter how I tried to move it around. The problem is if your not running a lower profile or angled type nozzle you may hit the heat shield on the hood. Mine is just barely touching so I think I will switch to a 90 degree angled nozzle holder for more clearance. Just something to keep in mind if your running WMI. I wonder if something changed in the manufacturing process?

I can't say a lot about the actual cooling performance yet since I just installed it. I will note on my test drive last night a made a 30mph-140mph highway pull and I hit IAT of 48F, that was 15 degrees below the outside ambient air temperature. I've never seen a IAT that low on my car.

Overall I am very happy with the entire kit. I would rate it 9/10 and would recommend it.

Edit: A couple things I forgot to mention. If you have Injen intakes you can do the whole install without taking out your intakes. Also I put the front of the car on jack stands and had more than enough room to do the install.

Thanks so much for posting this, and for the feedback!

I actually made an adjustment to our product page to help avoid any other confusion about the bung, ad that it doesn't come pre-drilled. There's a couple reasons why we deliver this way. First, it's to give you guys the option of what to put there. Whether it be for meth injection or additional sensors, its up to you! Also, we don't want to introduce a potential leak point for those not opting for using the bung.

Also, that is correct, we did make a slight update to the positioning of the bung to give a little more clearance around aftermarket intakes

Thanks again!

Hehe OK that makes me feel better. I thought maybe I was just crazy. It also makes sense since its a pretty tight fit in that area.

Thanks for the pics! This gives me hope that it'll work with the JT intakes (fingers crossed)

@xot1 on those JT intakes, can that JT logo be taken off or is it printed on the pipe somehow?

Looking at the setup for where the burger quick install WMI adapter. Looks like I will no longer be able to use this as it would be way to high. I was hoping that the connection was going to be short like in some of Mishimotos original photos. Thoughts?

Drill/Tap the hole and sell the adapter to someone?

Well I was going to wait and see about the CPI and if it would be worth it to run both WMI and CPI. Thats the only reason I was hoping to still use the quick conector.

Hi Nick,
I’m only writing on here because it seems nothing else I've tried has worked. I understand you guys had issues with way more pre orders than expected but said you were shipping in order of delivery.
I ordered my FMIC within a couple hours of sales opening up in August when you guys said you would be shipping in September. On Sept 23rd I got a notice to update my payment information or my order would be cancelled because it had been so long since i pre ordered the IC. When I called the number and spoke to a Mishi employee he assured me we just had to update the payment info and that it would ship out that same day.
...5 days later I received no information about my order whatsoever so i ended up sending an email to the Mishimoto sales email...2 days later, zero response. So I email again pretty much asking for a refund of my order due to false i formation and lack of communication. I love the Mishi brand but trying to get this IC on time for me to finish my build that i’ve had to out on hold now has not been the best experience for me. All im asking is for any communication on it and if im not able to have it shipped now then a simple refund.
Thank you in advance for any of your time.
-Jared

In my case I will use both
WMI bung and adapter, double nozzle setup.

I was planning on it as well, but my concern is that it might be way too tall.

Hi Jared,

Nick is out of the office today, but I'm filling in for him and can help. I'm shooting you a PM now.

Thanks,
