I was wondering if anyone noticed Weistec has a chip tune for the 3.3 TT. With a race exhaust fitted they claim 62 HP and 40 TQ. Everything stock 50HP 30TQ. Did some research on them they seem like they tune a lot of higher end cars Mercedes BMW Aston Martin McLaren and Pagani. They seem very reputable especially dealing with that clientele of people that own those cars. The tune is $500 not bad. I know the JB4 claims 100 Hp which is better but just looking into these guys they have some very impressive builds 1000 720’s 800Hp Mercs held world records for a while too. I’m seriously considering them seems like there’s a lot of potential there. I think it’s just great to see a tuning company like this taking on our platform just gives me more confidence in our car. Sorry for the long post.

They are offering a flash map, there are tons of them out there for the platform.

Our FAQ explains the differences between a JB4 and a flash.

JB4 Frequently Asked Questions

would getting the tune (or any tune or JB4) void the warranty?

That question gets asked at an annoying rate. Sniff around you will find your answer. But if you have to ask modding probably isn’t for you. Good luck!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes it does but only if whatever breaks can be linked to your mod.

Not quite. If you modify something, and Kia can reasonably link the mod as a cause or direct contributer to whatever failed, Kia Corporate is not obligated to uphold their end of the warranty agreement with you for that particular claim. That is not the same as voiding a warranty.

On another note, it's awesome that we have more tuning options coming around. I just find it a bit hilarious, though, that we've got people like Pressertech and Weistec, who tune supercars and high-end German monsters and exotics, tuning a Kia...but Cobb is too busy tuning Subarus to give us the time of day.

Cobb is too busy vaping with all the subie-bros. They've found their place in the tuning world, and they love it there. That said, good riddance we don't need those fools.

With everyone in the process of banning flavored vapes I suspect there's gonna be a flood of STi's on the used car market.

I think the North American Stinger market currently is too small for Cobb to invest their R & D into our platform. That being said, when I had my 2010 GT-R (tuned by a British tuner using the Cobb Accessport), a British company called Ecutek had developed a remote tuning platform for the GT-R. They ended up putting a lot more development into the GT-R platform and ended up with a significantly superior product compared to the Cobb. Quite a number of Cobb tuned GT-R owners were putting up their Accessport for sale with the intention of buying the Ecutek product. The classifieds on the GT-R forums had another Accessport for sale almost on a daily basis for a time, whereas it was extremely rare to see an Ecutek for sale, and when you did, they were sold in no time at all. Since I've sold my GT-R several years ago, Ecutek continued to further develop their product for the car and current owners are thrilled with them to say the least. They do a lot of work on ECU and TCM programming. (I have no ties to Ecutek BTW--just highlighting a superb product)

I e-mailed Ecutek early this year to ask if they had any intention of developing a product for our cars and the response at that time was "No current plans, but we are constantly looking for new platforms to develop. If we get enough requests we will seriously look into it." I may be mistaken, but I believe that there is a significant number of Stinger owners in the U.K. which, if true, would work in our favour as well.

My advice to Stinger owners is to take a few minutes and e-mail Ecutek to ask them to get a product on the market for our cars (hopefully deluge them with requests!). Them we might see something REALLY functional for our car.

From a cost and ROI standpoint I can understand that. My gripe with Cobb is the WAY they went about it. Cobb has been telling the KDM market in general to f*ck off for years at this point, from the days of the Genesis Coupe onwards. A lot of KDM platforms at this point as approached them and the answer is not only no, or we're not interested, or maybe we'll look into it, but in so many words a resounding and deriding hell no with absolutely no interest in going anywhere near our cars.

That said, My Z was Ecutek tuned. It'd be awesome to be able to go back to them.

My boosted FR-S was tuned by Ecutek and it was fantastic. Required one trip to the dyno where it was tuned all day and further refinements were done remotely. Loved the product and the ability to flash directly from a Windows-based tablet.

I’ve reached out to Ecutek a few times and have had my local tuning facility reach out as well. I’m optimistic that something will come of it.

Agreed. This is the only way any well established company will even consider investing some time on our platform. We need to take action and email Ecutek and show real interest on getting their product developed for the Stinger.

Alot of Stinger owners, including me, sold their Cobb tuned wrx for the Stinger. And seeing how vastly superior the Stinger is i can see Cobbs market share shrinking over time.

Plus a few Legacy GTs as well (mine finally died after 15 years, but a mechanic down the street bought it and is now driving it..).

They've expanded into Porsche territory. Funny how they can develop a product for a limited Porsche market but nothing for the Kia/Genesis. Oh wait!! I know!! Charge twice the price!!

Cobb for the 911 is $2999 lol. We charge a little more too for our 911 JB4 due to the lower volume.

I think you'd have a better shot getting HP Tuners interested than any of the other "large" at home flash companies.

Weistec is a very reputable tuner in the MB world. I have had their products, while grossly overpriced they are grossly over engineered.

I think they would have a nice market if they did turbo upgrades and a few other things rather than a flash tune.

Per my email with Weistec they tune the ignition timing, fuel, and boost. Race exhaust to them means a primary and secondary cat delete. Seems to be a relatively conservative tune for $500, although they are local to me which is a big thing. but the Alphaspeed and Kangan tune seems to be a bit more of an increase, although no one yet local is ready to do the tune.
