My first breakdown.

Hello, I am a French owner of a KIA STINGER 2.2 CDTI since november 2018 and I have my first breakdown.
The gearbox has a problem, they have to change the solenoid valve.
The only one available is in Korea :-(

You're the first post I've seen from a diesel owner - I've never even seen one, as they didn't bring the diesel option to Canada. How do you like the car so far (transmission woes aside), and especially the engine?

Thank you, but the problem with Korean products is customs taking time.
The diesel engine is a good engine, pleasant to ride and quite powerful (200hp) and above all it does not consume much ;-) Essence is very expensive in France.

I do indeed. A fine car. Sure I would have loved the V6 but it costs €10,000 more to buy than the diesel and €1000 per year more to tax. Not to mention petrol at €1.50 a litre (about $8.00 a gallon) combined with the heavy consumption of the V6. The diesel has a lot of torque and reasonable consumption. This breakdown is a bit worrying though - I hope it's a one-off and not a pattern.

Stinger always out of order despite the electovanne changed. They can not solve the problem. Disappointed.
Already 1 month and a half without stinger and no delay for repair. :-(

yes he lends me a Kia Rio and for the week-en a Hundai I30 Fastback, but i want my Stinger ;-)

Why can't they solve the problem?

They don't know where is the problem. It's random.

How does the problem manifest itself? What happens?

jerk when I go in drive or in reverse and the box remains blocked in 5. They change selenoid valve but it's not good.

What about a new gearbox?

For now KIA France does not want to change the gearbox, Not sure that this solves the problem

It can't be the gearbox itself: it has to be something electronic that is FUBAR. Cars these days! Heh!? They can make 'em, but most of "them" cannot fix 'em. This is, of course, my greatest fear as well: that if/when the first thing goes wrong on my otherwise up till then perfect car, it will be SOL. And so will I. I knew, going in, that I was crossing a tech line in the sand: computerized ANYTHING is beyond the ken of 99.999% of the human race. Replacement is the only viable "fix". Dinking around "trying to find out what is wrong" is just a monumental waste of time and customer patience.

You are right, it is not the gear box.
They found the origin of the breakdown. They will change the computer of the gearbox. The calculator is ordered, there is more than waiting.

Here I have recovered my stinger. For now everything is working properly.

Today, again the gearbox that remains blocked in 5 - Always the same problem, I'm fed up
