• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Alberta Stingers Check In

Q about the install of these. How do you make it fit AWD?
The pipes come with brackets that allow them to fasten to the chassis mounting points of either the 2WD or 4WD cars. It's a simple bolt-on installation with ordinary hand tools.

LOL is it actually? I had an accord coupe in white before and didn't seem bad until winter strikes

Well mine was dirty all winter. Summer isn't too bad, but with the amount of rain lately, there is always grey spots on the car. But from 20+FT away it looks clean lol.

I have a detailer's standards of cleanliness though.

My other car is black - which show beautifully when it looks clean, but compared to the white Stinger it takes considerably more effort to keep it appearing that way.

Wouldn't part with either of them, but again, good choice with the white ... :p

Haha, I swore off black because of how easy it gets dirty and the swirl marks after 1 car wash would drive me insane. I liked the blue, but wanted the red interior, wish they offered that combination

White does hide swirls pretty well.

So this will be my first turbo car (coming from a NA V6) anything I need to worry about and or concern myself with?
One friend told me that I need to let the car warm up and cool down after each drive, is this still a thing? I mean in my previous car it needed warming up but I never floored it until the oil temps were up enough to feel more 'lively' if that makes sense (not a very aggressive driver here lol)

Also anyone in Calgary go to a shop to get the emblems removed and placed? I'm willing to pay for it but not really wanting to deal with the amount of 3M that's is on the kia emblems alone LOL

It is always best to let the engine warm up prior to driving hard. The water temp goes up pretty quick, but I generally let my oil temp go up pretty much almost to half before I ever go full throttle. It's not to say that you can't go hard on it earlier, but as the engine warms up, all the metal parts and seals expand to their "operating" sizes and you will get the most power and least wear compared to driving it hard when cold. As for letting it cool down, I have noticed the radiator fan runs even when the car is off sometimes, but I'm not sure how much this helps the turbo. The reason old school cars needed to cool down is because the turbo was only cooled and lubricated by the engine oil and when the car is turned off when the turbo is piping hot, it cooks (technically, "cokes") the oil which reduced engine and turbo longevity. I think those days are mostly past us since most modern cars also have coolant lines cooling the turbos (I'm quite sure) but from an old school perspective you are best to either drive softly the last few minutes of your drive to let everything cool down, or if you were on it hard and are ready to park, I would suggest giving the car 30 seconds to a minute to cool down.

I also let my car idle for about 30 seconds before driving off when first starting. I know the oil flows quickly and I also run synthetic which should help, but again I'm a bit old school in this regard.

I have been seeing a few more Stingers in the city, I was wondering if any of you noticed this?

Just got mine a month ago. I see a stinger probly every other day. Parked next to one at Ikea a few weeks ago that was same color and same re-badge lol.

There was a Thunder Grey one parked strategically within eyeshot to mine at Lowes on Calgary Trail yesterday lol. Seemed a little on-purpose.

I have noticed the same thing. In my first 11 mths of ownership I only saw maybe 4 or 5 other stingers. However, over the past month, i have probably seen another 10!

I rarely see stingers in Calgary sadly. Saw a white one on stoney on Tuesday night headed east, I was trying to log map 3 so he probably thought I was being a douche haha
