Ceramic Silver / Ghost Grey Discussion

Hey,

I'm interested in a 2019/late 2018 GT1 in ceramic white. Anyone have a 2019 or 2018 and not having a paint chip problem?

Is the issue more blown out of proportion?

Just wanted to check in with y'all here on day 8 of ownership, and report that my GT1's Ceramic/Ghost Grey paint is holding up great!

Welcome! Sounds great! I’m at 2 weeks and paint is good. I highly suggest the LED reflector replacement. Plus the rear “Stinger” badge. I just the badge the other day. Makes the car looks even better!

The problem is limited to certain colors. I'm a week shy of 1 year of ownership at just under 14k miles and I haven't had any problems with my Ceramic Silver's paint.

Looks amazing, great job!

Did you do the HPC and VS1 yourself, or did you take it somewhere? I’m new to the paint protection game, so I’m all ears on any recommendations. Also, what percent tint did you do? Thanks!

Thanks Stinger Nick. I am new to paint protection/detailing as well, but decided to do it all myself. I bought 50ml of HPC and still have some left after two coats. I bought 115ml of VS1 Final Coat. Did two coats as well and have 2/3 of a bottle left.

Overall it was fairly easy, but time consuming. I had it hand washed, then took it to my garage and clay barred it. Then wiped it down with alcohol. Then applied 2 coats of HPC and then the Final Coat.

A couple of learnings;
  1. Find a place with good light. I have a couple of small spots where I missed wiping off the HPC. Once it fully dries it will leave a haze. Not noticeable to someone else, but I can see them!
  2. Mind the temperature. It's been fairly cold here in Atlanta and I don't think it's ideal for these products. HPC did OK, but I don't think the first coat of final coat ever really dried. Manufacture is not responsive and I can't find any documentation on temperature.
Overall, if I had to do it again myself I would.

Thank you for the info!! I forgot to say thanks

Like that stripe! Where did you get it?
Saw another Stinger owner had it on his car. He give me the contact info of his graphic designer in Chicago. They are $75 for a set if anyone wants one. Let me know and I’ll send the contact info.
