Extremely sketchy handling when wet

turn off Lane Keep assist is a good Point
Yeah, it gets stupid aggressive in wet conditions and it misidentifies other cars tire tracks on the road surface as the lane edges. It gave me one good scare on a night with heavy rain and lightning. It was maybe the 5th day of owning it and first time in rain.

I've had it pull me into another lane, and begin to go towards the curbs going through an intersection. I had both hands on the wheel and we went through the intersection, car pulled pretty good to the right and caught me off guard.

I wouldn't even drive a car that was doing that. Take it back to Kia and let them drive it.

I agree.

Callum take your car back and if the techs dont know whats wrong start a case with the VIP line. I would not drive around like that.

I wonder if they will kick back any claims due to lowered suspension. I mean...I know it won't "void" the warranty, but it can change the handling characteristics.

I'm also in Atlanta with a GT2 AWD and the Pilot Sports. I also am not experiencing what you're describing. I've taken the car on a long drive to west Georgia and it was uneventful. I'm spitballing here but perhaps it's an unseated bushing?

they'll blame the springs I'm sure, unless there's something obvious.

I feel like if it is indeed this bad, there has to be something obvious... something is very loose or broken.

that was my thought but I can't think of anything mechanical that would only cause issues when wet.

OP should get the car back on an alignment rack and also have a tech do a visual inspection/torque check. Perhaps the toe is off, so in the rain there's less resistance causing the tires to skip?

It very well could be. I'll throw it on a lift and check it out. Nothing seems loose when I'm driving it in dry weather. It's really strange.

What part of Atlanta?

That is my theory, the toe is in and creating tension. When it's wet, or I hit a slick spot it causes the tires to unload and jump.

They may have aligned your toe too aggressively. It’s a common thing to do on a lowered car. If they put the rear toe “in spec” it’s too high as those numbers are for the stock suspension height. Have them reduce your toe to near 0. This will also save your tires.

it's possible but if the toe was in enough to make that much difference you should be able to see it in the wear of the tire, unless this is something that just started.

Speaking of tire wear, I assume you have plenty of tread right?

Agree. If it’s toe related you’ll have uneven tire wear on the inner edge.

Ooooof yes they would 100% blame the springs. HAve you been to the dealer with the springs on yet? If not just remove them and test to see if the issue is still there on the stock springs. If it is then take it in lol.

Yep. Bad alignment.

The tires at the wear bars also explains your lack of rear traction in the wet.

Well that's your problem. Tire thread is low. At that level you will definitely experience sliding in rainy scenarios.

I wish I had checked that prior to creating this thread. It's apparent that the toe is indeed out, creating my issue. I will take it to a shop that is more intune with cars than the dealership.
Dealer said all was good!

I'm up in Cobb County.
