JB4 WMI Stinger Dyno Results 11/06/18

The AWD cars are putting down slightly better times right now, but looking at the traps, the RWD will have the advantage once we can hook well. Isn't the platform record still 11.9 with a RWD?
Yep 11.98 from Tork. Full bolt ons.

Curious as well, looks like without them the AWD is becoming the faster layout. I’m definitely envious of the 2019 GT1 w/ LSD (Limited Slip Differential) I drove vs the 18 w/o it I bought... I’m one wheel peeling wayyyy too much.
yup... surely someone is going to come up with an LSD solution. I don't understand how they can't be ordered through Kia at a reasonable price.

What kind of mileage are seeing before needing to re-fill the tanks? I know it depends on full throttle but can you give us an estimate of the re-fill range?

With the current JB4 settings we're using, we did maybe 10 half mile pulls at NoFlyZone and used around 1/2 gallon. Those are long runs too. Generally speaking I'd expect to have to refill it every week if racing around a lot, once a month if not. And the 2 gallon tank obviously gives you double the capacity.

Perfect, thank you for the info. Sounds like a practical investment.

A few JB4 customers run them and claim they help performance, but we have not dyno tested them yet. Maybe at some point in the future. Be aware they are illegal for use in the USA. So if you're going to do something like that certainly don't go posting on public forums about it.

Stinger WMI game changer coming soon. ;)

I can't wait!! Any progress on a Stinger specific stealth tank option? I don't mind how the 2gal looks on the side of the trunk but would prefer stealth.

Very creative

Please do it in black as well.

There won't be color options, plan is for all anodized black.

Our adapter will allow for a true plug and play water/meth kit install, making the most difficult part of the install, the nozzle mounting, a snap!

In terms of the stealth WMI bracket no progress yet. Too many other fabrication projects we need to wrap up first. But it's coming.

Had a chance today to hit the dyno for a little fun. This time around with normal pump fuel but the BMS WMI kit activated running a single BM10 nozzle, 75% meth to water mix. Our Stinger is also equipped with a BMS prototype intake and BMS BOV kit.

Results were pretty impressive. I played around with some different boost, timing, and AFR levels, but power was pretty consistent in the 450-460range, best results came running a 75 additive on map8. Map8 allows adjustment of boost as a function of WMI flow with 0 being close to map1 performance levels and a 75 additive being close to map7 levels. The additive can be set up to 100 to exceed map7 levels. I tried some higher boost levels and while torque went up, peak power didn't improve much, and timing drops ticked up, so we're probably at an octane limit here. Next go around we'll have to test E30 + WMI.

Per usual we'll include the detailed datalog with our dyno, something the other Stinger tuners are afraid to do, because with the JB4 there is nothing to hide. With the JB4 you can always record look at your own data any time you want.

Don't want to be a downer but what happens if you get rear ended with a bottle of alcholol right against a large battery? Will your Stinger become a flaming Pinto?

Safety is always something you'll have to weigh when deciding to install a WMI kit and what mixture of fluid to run. A 50/50 meth/water mix greatly reduces but does not fully eliminate fire risks. Some states allow washer fluid up to 30% alky and that can also be used for a water/meth fluid if really concerned with fire risk.

But it would take serious accident to crush the back end in enough to smash/compromise both the battery and the WMI tank. And in that sort of an accident I'd be more concerned with the gas tank being compromised. But plan accordingly.

Will you offer a kit that will allow me to run the WMI from the washer fluid?

I would prefer not to install anything in the trunk and be able use the factory low washer fluid warning.

I asked that previously - something something engine fires, no.

Say what!!! Ummm, Hmmmm. Snow performance and Devil’s Own have done it for years... if that was even the case - why is it the windshield wiper fluid in there? Same stuff at a 30% mixture.... I’ve used it in other vehicles. Almost every vehicle WMI has used it at some time or another as an alternative.

I’m assuming the kit can work with any WMI set-up. If they’re preference is “No”, cool. But it’s safer than Nitrous in 30/70 concentrations.

WMI kits with more than 30% meth are a known fire risk, so we won't offer a kit like that. But, the JB4 doesn't care where you put the tank and pump. :)

Here's my dilemma I don't want any added drone or noise, but from what ive read and heard the down pipe installs arnt that noisy ,and they give you a nice hp increase....so now that Terry has come up with a nice clean plug n play meth system which interfaces nicely with the JB4 ,it looks to give about the same hp increase as the down pipes ? in addition the meth would help protect the engine from knock and lowering iats while making hp ,and not having to use an e85 mixture in the gas tank?...and to cap it all off I wouldn't have to change out my intercooler because the meth would do a better job than the intercooler lowering iats at the same time giving a better charge to the cylinders....am I mostly right on this? Wash

Mostly, yes.

Everything you hit on is correct. I look at WMI’s cleaning/safe guard protections when I think about it over the HP gains.

A 30/70 mix is like 110 octane - but for me it’s the benefit of keeping everything clean, deposits off the valves, top end, cushion a tank of bad gas, etc.

I would still consider down pipes in the future, but def no drone from WMI... you “might” be able to hear the pump - something I haven’t heard mentioned.

WMI is a great mod that works by itself, and also in conjunction with any other mods you may want to add.

On exchange changes how bad is drone if you do primary only and leave secondary cats stock? Normally the primaries are the main restriction.
