Yeah, I think he is. A locked diff is what you usually see in drag cars because it forces both wheels to spin at the same rate. The stinger either has an open diff or limited slip diff. The open diff is fine if the track and tires have near identical traction. If they don't, you're going to have one tire spinning more than the other, that's before all the electrical gizmos come into effect anyway.

No one leggers with my RWD 2.0

I'm only thinking of my pickup trucks getting cought in sand in high school. 1 tire dug itself while the other sat on top on the sand doing nothing

Somewhat wider and stickier tires on a bolt-on and tuned RWD GT with LSD seems like it should be possibly a mid-11s car.

for the dyno numbers these tuners are posting, we should have a number of cars hitting mid 11s easy. It sounds like the ecu is limiting boost in the lower gears and launch control, once they figure out how to change those parameters we should see a lot of cars in the 11s and some getting really close to high 10s, assuming the stock tranny can handle it.

I think the biggest concern would be the driveshafts and other supporting components

When I was installing the down pipes on my AWD Stinger I tapped on the drive shafts and they are hollow. I'm sure that's normal. The one to the rear of the car is massive compared to the one going to the front. Seems like aftermarket drive shafts/couplings should be a thing at some point. Guess we'll find out when Tork finally breaks his!

yes, hollow is normal. Because of the way the shear force effects the drive shaft, having a solid drive shaft (while cheaper) does very little to improve strength while increasing the weight.

Personally I'm more worried about the diff and driveshaft/axles going on us first but I think we're probably 2 years, at least, out from a 10 second Stinger stateside, hell likely worldwide. I don't see it happening on the stock turbos or any reworked stock turbo, Between the motor and driveline something is almost guaranteed to be a barrier to it and then getting it all to the ground is another battle in of itself. That being said if a few bolt-ons and a tune gets me a solid mid-11 second 4 door KIA hovering $40k I'm more than happy.

On the chargers/challengers etc it was the half shafts that broke. Stock cars were breaking then when they added drag slicks. So to get to high 11s without breaking anything would be amazing

If you're talking about a 10 flat I would agree, if you're talking about a car running "10s" aka at least a 10.9999 I think we'll see that in 2019. We have a car right under 500 rwhp, that "should" be good for around an 11.3 if the tuners can figure out how to get launch control to, well, launch properly and it would only take 50-75 more rwhp to get one into the 10s. A turbo upgrade should blow way past that. We'll just have to see what the breaking point is once launch control is reworked, until then we're just guessing. You'll be able to easily get a mid 11 car with bolt-ons and tune if they can rework lc, might only be one run though :)

Has anyone torn down the 3.3 yet? While the weak links may be the trans and all things behind it, the fact remains that certain components within the engine can only handle so much power like pistons, connecting rods, crank, etc. While it's apparent the 3.3 can handle "more than stock" I'll hold my breath calling it a new V shaped 2JZ.

I finally had the opportunity to run down the quarter. Unfortunately it was very hot out that day (84) and I'm sure the heat soak kept me from a faster time.

GT 1 AWD
60- 2.13
1/4- 13.321
MPH- 105.84

Used launch control?

Nice time. Stock?

No, I have the K&N intake on it and did a muffler delete.
Oh ok. Was it very humid too? I pulled a 13.05 on my first run. 87degrees and humid. But I was basically at sea level too. At that time, I just had my k&n installed.
